I wanted one of these when they first came out in 2015, but thought they were a bit too extreme. Also there was a recall, and it was a new model - then later that same year McGuiness broke the TT lap record on the Fireblade. So traded my Honda VFR800 in for a Fireblade.

Well I reckon these are good to go now, and I have tried being sensible. May as well get one before the bureaucrats ban them :D

Not sure when delivery will be, but May is my chosen date if available.

    Introducing the Yamaha YZF-R1

    Go Mattie!;)

On a winner there, I think. I've never had much time for Yamaha, but of late they are really producing good product, and one that I reluctantly say rivals the latest Blades. Not too long to wait, but will be an anxious time for you as we all know!

Keep in mind an ecu flash as helps loads with the throttle connection and low speed control according to the bloke who did mine yesterday.
Great looking bike and sound amazing, enjoy!

Will be interested to learn of the riding position and ergonomics given the mileages that @Mattie660 is prone to doing. From what I have read, it's more cramped than the Blades with its higher foot pegs.

    I will give it a go !

I spend all day at a desk, with my legs tucked under my seat - leaning forward on my elbows, working at the computer. It is remarkably good posture training for sitting on a sportsbike ! :D

What a coincidence! I do the same, although rather than working on a computer, I'm engrossed in the framed photo I made up of @Lozzy !!:D:D

Have the MT10 myself too and loved my mates R1 when I rode it. It’s that Big Bang lump.

    Enjoy your new purchase matey.

That all depends on how the ergonomics suit the individual. I'm a relative short arse so the tucked pegs won't necessarily be an issue whereas reaching the floor flat footed certainly would. We're all different eh?
