    Hi Folks

Lately I've been suffering from shoulder pain whilst riding my MY17 blade. I think it might be an existing shoulder injury which is exacerbated by the low bars and the obligatory back pack with my laptop that I have to carry most days.

Any ideas on how best to achieve a more upright position? I appreciate that these are race bikes and therefore not made for a sit up ride, but I think maybe an inch higher on the bars would sort it. I would prefer not to resort to changing the bike but comfort is something I need to consider.

    Much Appreciated
    Rav

@Nytol - swears by his Helibars. I was considering them for touring, but still not sure.

    100%

For me, the extra bar height means that when going through town etc at slower speeds I can sit pretty much upright and take all stress off of wrists and shoulders, (I have a fairly messed up shoulder, as well as damaged wrists), the ability to change position also helps alleviate lower body stress, making longer rides so much more pleasant.

@Nytol Thanks for the advice. I will look into purchasing a set and see if my local shop can fit them. Much appreciated.

    Thanks all

I've helibars on my '08 blade: made a very noticeable difference in comfort. I also never wear anything on my back while I ride: I recommend getting a swmotech tank ring + tank bag to attach to it. I'm an engineer, have to carry a laptop for work: this setup limits me to 13" laptops but I'm ok with that.

TLDR; helibars + stop wearing stuff on your back while riding.

Thanks for your advice. Sounds like I may benefit from a multi faceted approach to a comfortable ride. I’ll look into this too.

    Much appreciated

Haha! Not yet Nigel. I’ll try all options before considering a change. I absolutely love this machine. I had a 2 year run on a Harley Davidson 48 before getting back on a sports bike, must admit the Harley was comfortable but it was ‘hardly dangerous’ ;)

Yep, can't see myself going soft - on bikes at least.:)

I fight arthritis, rheumatism, and all those old fogey ailments to stay on my sports bikes. I'd see Dr Jack Kavorkian's colleagues before buying an Africa.
