Anyone on here had their ECU reflashed as oppose to a map put on a PCV/Bazzaz? My local shop are doing a deal on ECU flash's at the moment. they are doing a bench map or a full custom flash on the dyno. My bike only has a Carbon Yoshi as far as engine mods go so wondering if there is any point, is it a big difference or will i not really notice? Thanks.
lots of threads on this , and i was in the same boat as you .. decided to se my power commander 5 and am getting mine flashed this week .. bang for the buck theres probably no better option out there..at least thats what my research indicates Optimize fuel curves across all gear ( same as a Power Commander) Optimize ignition curves across all gears (remove RPM & throttle based ignition restrictions) Raise RPM limiter Adjust idle speed Adjust in gear idle speed Disable pair valve Disable steering damper Disable O2 sensor Disable exhaust valve Reset radiator fan turn on/off temperature (205 / 195 )
Thanks mate, that all looks good, I will do some more searching. It says on your list Disable pair valve. do i need to remove the pair system first or can the ECU flash be used to simply disable it whilst still in place? Thanks.
ECU Re-flash is sooooo much better with loads more options than the outdated PCV. Can recommend using Rich @RB Engineering for any ECU work, they are the sole UK Dealer for Woolich Racing Products. http://www.woolichracing.co.uk/default.aspx
i have mine already removed.. but as far as i know you can disable it and leave it in place if that floats your boat
I can't be bothered to remove it, I've been in that area of the engine several times before and its a nightmare to get everything back together and I have big hands which makes it a ball ache. Good to know i can have it disabled without removing it. I'll do that, thanks.
I have just been deciding between pcv etc, The way I see it is if you put in a pcv and dyno with no o2 sensor you end up with a map for the that days temp humidity and pressure, if you had a dyno on a colder or hotter day you would get a different map. As I have only put on a racefit exhaust I have just made my own for now using thermistors and dip switches same as sold at m&p I bought my box for £3.00 and the thermistors for 49p each at maplins I can adjust intake temp from 3 degrees to about 30 degrees. this will add fuel across the range but once set up will self adjust for air temp and when at steady throttle will revert back to closed loop fuel injection. not perfect but a pcv will not adjust its fueling for different conditions even the auto tune as far as I can see will just make you a new map, a reflash should adjust for temp but should also use 02 sensor for feedback
I had my 2015 blade ecu mapped last week at JHS and they were very helpful, I've only had a quick ride on it but so far so good. They can do more and it's one less thing on the bike so I would recommend it so far.
Had a custom map put on my 14 blade with the Woolich Racing software. Very happy with it heaps more options than the bazzaz I ran on the 09. Plus, the Woolich race tools give you the option of quickshifter, pit limiter and launch control.
I have put a racefit exhaust on mine, looks awesome but makes a lot of noise. It feels like it is running lean as my r1 had loads more midrange. I am hoping the box of thermistors I have fitted to the AIT will richen it up a bit to bring back the mid range as I spend 80% of my time between 3k and 6k, if I still think it needs it I may go for remap but the bike won't be out until it warms up a bit
I've also heard that a reflash can solve the jerky off to on throttle where as a fuel module can't. Apparently it's due to the injectors cutting all the fuel when the throttle is closed, but a reflash can allow a small amount to pass through to stop the jerkiness (emissions related apparently)?
