Some how I have damaged the radiator, most likely during storage or transportation. I will be getting it repaired in the UK and would like peoples advice: I have asked a few companies for quotes: 1. Company 'A', quoted £95, using a 'special' ali glue type, heated in an oven then the rad is tested. 2. Company 'B' Quoted £45 - Cut the leaking tube at each end (remove ~ 1cm) and blank it off using a specialised epoxy. ( you would not notice this unless you looked hard) Then chemically clean internal & external, then perform a pressure & flow test to ensure everything is as it should be. Photos of the damaged radiator below: I'm inclined to go with option 2, but if any of you have had experience with either method, please can you let me know.
My brother and a mate of mine had their radiators welded and tested by a radiator specialist for less than £50. That was almost 5 years ago, no issues. They were worse than yours and didn’t have to remove any of it.
I posted the name of a radiator specialist on here a while back who would repair it..now I cant say how or what the cost would be but I wouldn't do either of those options you list I would try the old boy I listed below..at least speak to him and see what he says https://www.1000rr.co.uk/threads/radiators.37233/#post-490208
Just putting this out there knowing there is some hesitation about Chinese products. Most years are available: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aluminiu...533708?hash=item3b17de958c:g:Wi4AAOSwqXJbapUj
Yeah, my "next desk neighbour" bought a chinese rad for his Blackbird and said it is well made with all the brackets etc in the right place and (touch wood) he has had no issues with it.
Thanks, I checked it out and that bloke was Option 2. After asking a few more questions, it turns out both of the above options were using som sort of epoxy to seal the hole.
I have an oversized race rad on my track CBR600RR which the front wheel kisssed and created a small weep hole. I used metal putty and it's not leaked since or had any affect in the 6yrs since. £5.76 inc VAT from https://www.bearings-online.co.uk/i...MIitf2m_bq4gIVbr7tCh0bxArvEAQYCiABEgIZXPD_BwE
