I've got one of those in the loft! Best get the ladders out & dust it off. Are they big now?

I must admit this is what I can’t get about these lithium battery,
You bike generators are the same as mine. And after reading so many on here with SP ‘s saying their battery is flat I would use an ordinary batery

Lithiums require much tighter voltage tolerance on detecting full charge and once fully charged they do not allow or require to be trickle or float charged. That's why you have dedicated lithium chargers, they dont like being trickle charged.

I'm not sure I'd risk a battery fire.

Never a problem for me. But I qualify that by stating that I'm not sure until I return about the battery status, and that's assuming the house hasn't burned down to overload stress from 8 Oximisers.:)

Dodgy translation/dubbing but a good vid about lithium batteries. Just ramp up the results for what to expect from bigger batteries.

Well the battery was replaced under warranty and the first service carried out. They advised a lithium battery charger which was £100 with all the cables connected on the bike to make it a simple plug and play and guess what within two weeks of being back it’s flat again?????! What the fuck. I’ve had two CBR 600RRs a GSXR750 and 2 BMW S1000R Sports and never any battery problems. Now what?? Honda customer care? Contact Honda finance? Reject the bike? 500 miles in and not impressed to be honest.

I would be back on to dealer get reimbursed for the charger, give them an ultimatum get fault found and fixed or you will take it further with the finance side of things as bike is faulty. And get use of a courtesy bike while yours is in getting fixed take it out and ring its neck

    I feel for you, John.

Just as consumer feedback (and no real consolation to you) I rarely ride my SP2, so it stays on Lithium charger (Optimate) for months at a time. When taken out it starts up with no probs at all, just as it does when used regularly for a week or so.

I mention this just so you know it's not a 'range' fault but one with your particular bike.

Granted, but many of those posts were of bikes not left on battery tenders, or ultimately diagnosed with tracker or alarm drain problems.

I can't recall an incidence of a 'standard' bikes, as is John's, that has exhibited the aforestated problem. (Just sayin' ;))

Vertu picked it up and have sorted it and is now ready for collection, they said it was something to do with the fact the first battery totally died and also killed the battery pack in the tracker. Tracker battery all recharged and lithium battery now recharged and supposedly fine. Time will tell, hopefully no more battery issues! Here’s hoping

Fingers crossed for you. I don’t know about you, but after what you’ve been through, forget the batteries, I’d been feeling drained and in need of a recharge. Keep us updated, but hopefully no more dead batteries.
