Hi all, After just having my 2012 blade written off and purchasing another, Im wondering about exhaust choices. My original bike had an Akrapovic can and I'd just taken the baffle out before I crashed and loved the sound. Im in a position to look at an exhaust for my new-to-me 2013 bike, and am looking at another Akrapovic or a Yoshimura can. Does anyone have any opinions on a direct comparison between the 2?
Akra for me, seem to be my go to aftermarket exhaust on all my bikes but not for any specific reason think I probably just prefer the badge. All the ones I've had have always been well made, can't comment on the Yoshi ones as never had one, although I imagine they are just as good. Don't know if there are any performance differences between them.
Just an opinion... Carbon Yoshimura better looking, slightly better finish. Akro sounds and runs better both are the the non road versions
Interesting comment and as a follow up, do either have identification on stating not for road use or race only? I got pulled over earlier this year and the officer tried real hard, down on his hands and knees even!, to find some such identification on my obnoxiously loud SC Project on the RSV4. Fortunately there was no such markings……..and then he stated he actually didn’t mind loud pipes!
My Yoshi didn’t have any markings stating not for road use and also found it louder than my titanium akra, the revs also hunted with the youshi until I had it mapped
I dont recall any markings, but ran a very loud yoshi and never got tugged, neighbours got a bit twitchy though
same, yoshi hunted and needed to be a little richer at 750-1500 rpms. The sound from the yoshi was much higher in pitch (to the point it was uncomfortable without earplugs) Akra a little lower and bassier on idle. Yoshi used to pop on the overrun like lunatic on a shotgun

Akra all day for me lighter in weight really suits the bike and the sound is rich and deep.Had a yoshi on my gsxr build quality was a bit ropey and sound a pit peaky not a fair comparison I know just my opinion
Thanks - I'm having the same thoughts as OllieTY but on a 2017 Blade - I had an Akra on my 2012 Blade that had a removable baffle which sounded good and would nicely burble on the overrun.
