Afternoon, I’m new to the group and will be picking up my 2011 Repsol Blade on Tuesday and after reading through some threads on here it’s put the fear of god into about the ABS issue some of these bike have had. Is there anyone out there who has owned the bike for a while and never had the issue or is it (by the sound of it) every bike with the ABS?

Hi and welcome. Congrats on the purchase.

I can't help with the ABS issue as I haven't had one of the afflicted bikes. From my perspective it's not all, but it's akin to Russian Roulette: you'll never know if it's your turn.

Unfortunately mate it is, hence the reason I’m now shitting myself incase it happens to me lol. Hopefully there is people out there with the ABS model that haven’t had this issue happen to them and it’s not all bikes.

Welcome to the forum Andrew. Knowing what I know and having had experience of an affected bike. Cancel, and get a non ABS bike if you can. The constant worry of not having any front brake is not only tiring it makes you into a bad rider. By the way on a couple of occasions I had no back brake due to the ABS issue.

Hi Andrew and welcome, the abs seems to be a common issue but not one every single owner has faced. I’ve got a 2011 too. Look forward to seeing pictures of your bike

Welcome Andrew. Just to add, it’s not only the blade that had the problem abs, my 14 plate CBR600RR had the c-abs that often left me with the front brake lever going to the handlebar.. I hope you are lucky and have a good one with no issues!
Oh and I test rode a 16 plate Fireblade sp that on my short test ride had an inconsistent front brake, so it clearly wasn’t fixed on the later bikes either. Nothing but consistency on the RA-H model which uses a totally redesigned system so I believe..

I would take it for an hour test ride if I were you.. in that time I’d expect you to get a feel for how consistent the front lever feels. Let us know how you get on either way.

Yeah take it for a test ride....lob it in the nearest reservoir...punch yourself in the nose and tell them 3 masked men attacked you and rode off on it...
Then look for a non abs lol

    Good afternoon Andrew!

I'm rather new to forum myself, it has a great bunch of people on here that are very helpful and welcoming.

I myself have the cbr1000rr 2009 hrc abs with upgraded hel performance front brake line. I've had mine for a few months no issues

If you haven't signed and paid for it @Andrew Bruce, walk away - you might have put down a deposit that you’ll not get back but that’s a pittance in comparison to what you’ll throw at it trying to fix a near impossible problem (short of total removal). I had one and lost a couple of grand getting rid and getting the Black Edition, but i had no confidence in it once i had a problem. the black has restored my lovie affair with the blade.

There are plenty of excellent none ABS on the market and at this time of year they’re at their cheapest.
