I got the kriega tool roll free with the R8 waist pack. My bike doesn't have a tool kit with it but plenty of storage for one. Does anyone have the original tools that came with the 2001 that can show me a picture or give advice what I should fill my roll with? Or Is it a waste of time bringing tools with me and I should use it for something else?? Thanks
Why would a girl/lady need tools? You only need stand beside your bike on the side of the road and every car, lorry, and motorcyclist will be stopping. PS. I'm sure some will give you some serious help shortly! If not, I'll photograph my original 2001 tool roll later in the morning after fighting my way through the lounge room
Yeah Nige but what Aurora has to take into account is being broke down somewhere remote and a certain little Citreon homing into view....in which case a tool kit will be invaluable to get her back on the road again before that situation arises
Looks like these are the tools https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-CB...ade-oem-tool-kit-2000-to-2003-4-/323785485072
Yes, in part. But what a shabby collection. From the purveyor of all things original, here is mine, complete and pristine
Much easier to carry an AA or RAC membership I only tend to carry a small adjustable spanner, a stubby screwdriver with bits, and some allen keys. I put them in a neoprene pencil case that is waterproof-ish and more flexible that the crappy plastic case that manufacturers supply. On the very very rare occasion I have needed a tool I have not had a problem getting to a bike stop where you can normally find someone with the specific tool you need as some of the vintage bikes, and HDs, seem to need copious amounts of tweaking when ridden.
Thanks. I don't want to waste that nice roll but equally wonder exactly how much to tinkering I'd realistically be able to do road side anyway.
Hi Aurora, welcome to the forum. You could consider carrying a puncture repair kit in your Kriega roll aswell as a few tools or instead of tools? I have one of these.... https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/101778 I have used it once and it works well. You could do away with the carry pouch and just put the contents in your kriega roll? I guess you need to ask yourself what would you be capable of fixing at the road side? As a minimum we can all check for blown fuses under the seat so make sure you have tools to remove the seat. I always carry a few cable ties aswell because if you come off they are invaluable for re-attaching plastics if the bike is still rideable. Other than that I would be more inclined to call for recovery. Hope this helps.
.....loose battery terminals are more common than you think also, make sure you have the 8mm spanner or Phillip's screwdriver to tighten down battery terminals.
If you are building up your own tool roll you can buy much better tools than the Honda ones. Original kits are really only useful for keeping a bike "original." I'd be much more inclined to put some decent tools in that Kriega roll.
