Hi all. New guy here from Vancouver.

I'm also on the U.S. forum but it seems that you are more forgiving of riders with a mind to do a bit of touring on your CBR's. That's the only sort of riding that I do. I still have my 2016 FJR and before that, a 2003 FJR. As age has been creeping up, I know that I will find the FJR a bit on the heavy side so a few days ago I bought a 2015 CBR1000rr with just 5,200 Km's on the odo; just like new. Most of my planned mod's will be touring oriented - seat, bars, pegs, etc. I'm currently designing a mount for hard bags as that's what I've been riding with for the past 600,000 Km's. If anyone is interested, I will likely create a web page or post some pics here on the mount. So,enough about me. Chat soon...

It makes a great touring bike, if you do not mind the sportbike riding position. It makes a smaller hole in the air than a big tourer. Happily sit at 100 mph (allegedly ) for as long as you want and still return reasonable fuel mileage.

I had a bag behind me on a rack that replaced the pillion seat, which helped a bit with airflow and filtering in traffic. Reasonably easy to get tucked in behind the screen out of the cold or the rain - lay on the tank !

Good luck with it and look forward to hearing about it and seeing some pictures.

Hello and welcome David. Is that an ABS version - can't quite see from the photo? Looks like a Yoshimura (?) can on the end too - looking very smart already. Try not to add too much scaffold to the back eh! ;)

Vancouver - great place from what I remember from my brief visit around 10 years ago. Spent a week in Victoria on Vancouver Island staying in the Empress hotel. Would love to return one day, especially on two wheels. Amazing scenery from what I remember. Now I'm dreaming of my next holiday!!

Yes, correct on both counts - ABS + Yoshimura.

I'll try not to abuse the bikes good looks with the scaffolding. But, touring is the reason for the purchase so it can't be helped, at least not while it's in my custody. I've seen a few other sport bikes with hard bags that look pretty good so I'm confident that I can do a decent job of it.

    Welcome David,
Most of my 8,000 miles per year are touring in the UK or on continent.
I use Kreiga Luggage and have that strapped to the back seat.
It is a great bike for touring once I have folded my self up on it ;-)

Hi and welcome. Will be interested to hear about yer touring mods. Though if you’re going to tour on a blade u might want to consider a gel seat as it’s a very uncomfortable place to spend more than a couple of hours.

I just did a quick Google and found Saddlemen gel seats. Can you think of any other brands that I should throw into the mix before making a decision ? I did have Corbin on my list but that choice is far from final. I put 300,000 Km's on the Sargent seat on my FJR and it was a great seat but not made for the CBR.

Honda do one. Called an e comfort touring seat. Unsure if their still available though. Quite a few around used tho. There’s always the option of putting a large gel insert underneath the original cover. There’s plenty on the subject on this forum.
