2011 Repsol Following previous query I stored the bike on return to uk in September and kept it on a trickle charge over winter and did not start it over the winter. Today I tried to start her up. I used the kill switch to turn engine over and circulate the oil then switched the kill switch off and tried to start the bike but with no joy - not even firing on any cylinder. Obvious points: Fuel in tank HISS goes off when ignition turned on Kill switch in correct position Any ideas people? TIA Ian
How fast did it turn over? Even though it’s been on a trickle charger it could still be the battery if it’s passed it’s best. I’d try jumping it from a car battery to rule that out first.
I can hear a clicking from under tank position. I'm not sure whether it use to make a whirring sound previously when the rev counter etc did its ignition on routine No whirring sound now. Problem is bike at mates and I've had to return home so I'll be visiting him tonight.
Starter motor had plenty of power in it. It was spinning the engine over good. Problem is the bike is at my mates and I've had to return home so I'm returning to bike tonight.
Clicking could be an issue with a weak/dead battery. If the fuel pump isn't whirring, the kill switch could be causing this or the fuel pump is faulty? I recently had this problem with my Blade - it would randomly start on the button, which was down to a shorting in the kill switch. Just squirted a bit of WD40 down the kill switch, which resolved the problem. I would try WD40 on the kill switch first, then buy a new battery. HTH Chin
Sounds like the kill switch is sounding favourite then. PS - What does the OLD rating mean (other than, that’s what I am ) - never noticed that one before?
Has anyone found that back at the time when you could switch the headlights off (prior to now when they are permanently on) we had less problems with our batteries?
Thanks all I’ll try the kill switch issue later. I only use the kill switch at oil change and like today when first using the bike after the winter layup Cheers
Old is a negative, sort of old news, boring old shit type thing. It is also close to the edge on a mobile and can be caught by accident when scrolling. I got one the other day but such things only tend to worry the delicate and the snowflakes and so I don't worry if it was on accident or intended, it's a free world and all that
