Hello. New to this so forgive me if I'm in the wrong place. I have a 06 fireblade which is suffering from a leaking fork. I'm fairly confident that a can do the job myself. But I brought the kit which was for my model and it was come with silkolene rsf 7.5 Double checked with silkolene and there site recommends 2.5. So is the 7.5 wrong and would damage or not work. Or simply a slightly different feel? I would appreciate any guidance. Thanks

Thanks for your responses silkolene contacted me and said it would do no harm. It would just be a little stiffer. So I think I will go with it as I have it. Thanks again.
Hi @Nottee welcome. Oil weight is down to your preference really, the higher the weight the more dampening you will have. If the manual says 10w then 7.5w will be fine. Not sure why silkolene would recommend 2.5w though, that doesn't sound right. Here's a really good video for servicing conventional forks.... And a really good video for servicing USD forks....
By the way, in the videos he uses a universal seal driver that can be used on different diameter forks. I have one of these and think it's a bit crap, I'd get the exact size seal driver for your forks.
I've always got away with a suitable sized socket, as long as the seal is fitted the same height all the way around.
Silly me. I've only done one rebuild & they were traditional RWU forks. I think I tapped the seals in with a hammer on an open ended spanner.
