Evening all, I am very seriously considering/ about to buy my first blade, a 2007 fully standard bike. My question is, it’s done 22,000 miles, how is that for a blade of this age? I understand it is really a question of how well it’s been looked after and serviced etc, I just wanted to know initial thoughts? Thank you in advance, Sam
Hi Sam and welcome to the forum You've answered your own question as far as I'm concerned. 22k is nothing for a modern sports bike. I think it just depends on if it's a keeper or one for now, as trying to sell it on with c.30k would probably prove harder to sell. Any bike that's had it's oil changed regularly would be fine in my eyes regardless of age. I'd prefer the 08 onwards model, but that's just my bias view. You won't regret buying a Blade! HTH Chin
Hi and welcome to the forum - mileage is not the concern really, more a case of how many owners, has it been looked after, the service history, etc
Hi Sam if the bike has a good service history and in good condition buy it 22k miles on a 13 year old bike is low mileage, put some pictures up once you have got it home.
hi,ive got a 918rrx with 77,000 miles on her & it still runs sweet as !,a testament to the original owner i got it from
Hello and welcome Sam I have a RR7 and its a fantastic ride the starter always sounds lazy on them but that's how thay are ,,,, last year once had a momentary cut out under hard acceleration over 8000 revs . Had the tank off , had a look around but all I could find was a partially kinked fuel line , checked all the electrical connections, never been a prob since . hydraulic clutch can feel a bit heavy compared to a cable one , just need to man up It's a keeper
Can't see me ever getting rid of my RR7, it's been the perfect bike. Just check it's been well looked after, and you'll be good to go!
Some service history would be nice but not all owners are super careful with service books. So if its not present, ring a main dealer with the reg details and they should be able to give you a full service history providing its been done at a registered Honda dealer as its all stored on a database.
All, thank you for all that really helpful advice. I have messaged the dealer to ask about the service history etc and hopefully will find out soon/ have it delivered. Luckily I will be able to use it to commute to work as we only have one car atm that the wife also needs (ha a good excuse). I will post pictures as soon as I do. A quick one, I am about 80% decided on this 07 bike but for only £500 more there is a 11 plate blade with similar miles at the same dealer, I think I do prefer the look of the 07. Is there really much difference between the two? This will be my first time in owning a litre bike (I’ve ridden a few) and had a Daytona 675 before. I’ve chosen the blade as I love the look of them but also I hear there reasonably easy to ride/ slightly more forgiving etc. Thoughts?
I had a RR7 and now got a 2011 (RR-B) I have to say the 08 onwards didn’t appeal to me at first. some comparisons, clutch feels light in the 2011 but having been used to the hydraulic clutch on the RR7 is not surprised by this. For me it would come down to looks, both perform well and will be more than enough for a road rider and some track days, both have minimal electronics to go wrong, if the 2011 is an abs avoid. feel free to post pics of both bikes
Again, thank you all for your advice. So I think I’ve narrowed my selection to 3 now (found a really tidy 08 that’s only done 12k miles), the links are below: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2008-58-...UNNING-CONDITION-FSH-LOW-MILEAGE/283836396046 https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201908261528659 https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202002257690115 Advice would be very much appreciated, thanks.
I would go for the Black one... Personally, I would go for the first one, but colour wise, none of them. Chin
First one is younger, lower miles and fsh so of the three that would be my gut instinct, though the second one being abs doesn't even make it on to my list for consideration
