    Hi Guys,

    I'm new here!

I'm considering a QS for my blade and have the option to buy a used HM Plus for similar money (actually slightly less) to a new HM SuperLite/Healtech.

I've had a search around and I'm not really sure of the benefits of the HM Plus so not sure whether it's worth a punt second hand vs buying one of the others new. I couldn't find any similar topics so thought I'd post up.

    Thanks
    Sam

Hi Sam, welcome. Have you considered the Translogic is4? When I was in the market a few years ago all the reviews I read and opinion I asked pointed towards this being the best you can get. I didn't make the leap in the end.

    Hi Charlie,

Thanks but I'm not looking to spend £400-450 on a QS, otherwise yes that'd be in the running. They hold their money second hand too so out of my budget for this. I'm only really comparing those in the post (or anything else around £200-250).

I sold my tranlogic for about 200 iirc.seen others since at about 250 too but depends how patient you are :)

Plus, mine came off a zx10. There are a few other compatible ones although I had to swap one of the pins on the zx10 loom. Just incase you decide to look for one.

    Hi Sam
Check our Syncrotech. £260 on Ebay or same price on thier website called Shift Power, and it's a road and race version. The HM Superlite is road only with occasional track.

Don't get me started about HM!

Syncrotech is Smooth as silk. A really nice piece of kit.

The only thing I miss, which I don't know whether is good or bad, is the gear change noise. The ShiftPower has no noise, just a smooth shift!
    No more, berm, berm, berm...

I fitted the HM Superlite to my RR5 Blade and I have got to say it is superb. I just set it on Pos 3 and all is good.
    Hope this helps?

I’ve used the HM superlite on my old blade, Great shifter with 3 levels of sensitivity. It’s all you need. Have also used Translogic in the past. You don’t really need the more expensive units as theses are adjustable for sensitivity and kill time. The Superlite ticks all the boxes as far as I’m concerned. Good price range, quality item that does what it says on the tin:D

How are you finding this? I’m tempted to get another one, but I found full throttle changes weren’t smooth..

    Hi Jay

I haven't played with any of the settings yet, but I too think the gear changes are not as smooth as my old HM Super Lite. I think the Syncrotech is much smoother at lower speeds and shifts like butter. At higher speeds however, the shifts are a bit jerky and almost feels like the bike slows momentarily whilst shifting. I don't even know whether the settings on it will help, as it may just be a sensitivity adjustment? I will play with them at some stage (and then with the settings)

Like I've already said, there's no noise like the HM unit and to be fair, both are the same price (both £260 on E of the Bay). I do miss the HM sound sometimes (berm, berm, berm, berm, berm.... )

My HM failed, which is why I never bought another one, as when I sent it for investigating by HM they just said "Yes, it has failed, buy another one". No discount, and no it can't be repaired, nothing, and their mission statement is they can't fail as there's no moving parts! I have nothing against HM, just won't buy their products anymore.

The HM Super Lite is advertised as road use only (occasional track), but the Syncrotech is road and race, which is why I went for this unit in the end. Because of that statement, I think it 'should' last longer than my old HM unit or any QS marked as road only use? I also really like the cosmetic look of the Syncrotech unit in its sexy chrome as opposed to the HM stickered one with the built-in light (that sounds so bitter)

On start up the HM unit should flash three times. If it starts flashing erratic like mine did, then get your wallet out and bend over son, it's new Quickshifter time... (I'll get my MC Hammer pants!)

I just won't buy HM again out of principle (I'm a dick like that)

Just giving my honest opinion, as I'm not affiliated with any QS company.

Yeah I totally get that. Basically I used to have the full race unit, pit limiter, launch control and QS but felt like the QS was very jerky at fully open throttle. Half open it was perfect.

I’ve currently got a Healtech QS easy, it’s the best QS I ever used. Smoother than a smooth thing, Sounds incredible, adjustability is incredible and love that it’s adjusted via the app. The only downside is you don’t have that GORGEOUS sensor on the rod. Just got to tart it up with a bit of lockwire haha.
