Not sure if this is in the rite place:(
I need some advice please, I’ve not had the 1000rr long in fact I have only managed 100 miles In the last month and I’m finding it uncomfortable, only due to a uncomfortable vibration through the bars which is giving me pins and needles in my right hand.
It’s ok to start with but after a short time it’s not pleasant.
I never had this with my 600rr or my gsxr1100.
    Any advise greatly appreciated.

Has it got bar ends and does it have the original weights inside the standard bars?

You could get heavier bar end weights and/or grip puppies. I've had to do both of these things on a BMW il4 in the past, never on the fireblade though.

It's more the bar weights. They should pull out with a bit of effort and look something like this.

Heavier bar end weights can help a lot
Also and I'm serious here check your gloves, if the have a top strap that goes across the top of wrist then loosen it off a bit and make sure blood us able to flow freely when your wrist is being bent back over when riding.

Following this thread with interest. I have the same issue with my RR6, right hand especially, after about 30 miles I'm having to take it off the bars altogether coming into villages etc, just to try and get some feeling back.

Not convinced my bar end weights are right though, thought to remove them I'd just undo the screw on the end but it just turns and turns without getting any looser (or tighter). I can spin the whole bar end round, it's loose but firmly attached to the bike, (if that makes sense)!

Been here, got the tee shirt. Long story short, I improved my issues greatly with much heavier bar-end weights, ca. 400gms. The bar weight cartridge should rotate smoothly in the bar tube. There's a knurled rubber ring at each end of the cartridge that wears and might need replacing. Two small holes in the bar tube allow a suitable (home made!) tool to depress the locators in the cartridge and the lot slides out.
I had one set that had gone solid and wouldn't move, and a proper fight to get the assembly out, and another where a load of rubber dust came out, where the rings had worn down. The damping characteristics of the cartridge are lost if the rings are no longer a firm fit in the bar tube.
It should slide back in firmly but still rotate, and put some red grease on the rubber rings.

Interesting about age related damping effect, makes sense that these parts deteriorate over time. I get numb right hand after longer rides, not sure it's vibration as don't really notice that, but angle of wrist doesn't help. Got a quick throttle to install so will see if that helps. Don't get same issue on my street triple rs, only both blades I've had

Thanks all, I think the bar ends are defiantly a contributing factor, they are as loose as the proverbial and I can’t get them out:mad:

You’ll find that keeping the front wheel in the air whilst travelling through villages and town centres, reduces the forward biased weight on the wrists and also has the added benefit of reducing vibration through the bars and road induced harmonics that are evident when the front tyre is in contact with most surface types used in the UK

    ;)
