Hate Hate Hate - who do I have to kill? Delving about in the Honda wiring and under the seat it's all black black on black for a colour scheme. Why? It must be a policy decision. All I want to do is slide a cable under the ABS valve. Can I see what I'm doing? Can I Hell. So, sitting down with a cup of tea I browse Amazon and Ebay for a workshop light on a strand with an arm to reach over things. They must exist. They must... It can't just be me that has this problem... I already have a set of secondary flood lights in the workshop... Finally I find a cheap 'salon' light and magnifying head on just the right stand and arm. It's tall enough but eyebrows and nail extensions... Pity its only got a pathetic 3.5W of leds in a ring. So I also order one of those little flat 20W floodlights to replace the head. It won't fix black black on black but it might help a bit.
Yes they are good for tight stuff and I remember I used to borrow the snap on light which use the same battery as the impact gun back then before LED is popular nowadays there are so much LED lights and so cheap, search COB led light and you will find them under tenner on eBay like this one not exactly with extension arm but magnetic to stuck on any big enough steel bolts or spindle for tight to reach area or even resting on floor to shine up in an angle https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/333633741596 These magnetic light is a happy medium; I also have bicycle light for night off-road but they are way too bright even on low setting to be used when wrenching stuff
Well I looked for a head torch amongst my bits but the only thing I found had two rather wimpy LEDs and it was almost hard to tell it was on. I was dejected. You obviously had something far more punchy. Then it dawned on me... I rooted through the box of GoPro bits that GoPro people tend to accumulate. I found a head band thingie. And then I found the Scuba GoPro video light. It is designed for middle distance use use underwater and at 20cms it is OMG bright. It helped enormously. Thank you
I got a ring RIL3600 few years back. It is very versatile and configurable with two strong manget so you get all angles and positions covered. The light is strong (but not too strong) enough to light up shaded area on a sunny day. I also like & use head lamps but some have too many lighting options. And finally a mains powered small ikea style lamp is also part of my set up.
