    Hi all,

Made the jump up to the fireblade, bought one last week. Started to hear a clanging noise when I completely come off the throttle at low speeds, anything under 20mph. As soon as I release the throttle, makes a sound like metal hitting against something. Can't work out what it is. I have checked the chain, it has a new rear sprocket, not sure about the front sprocket.

Doesn't happen if I slowly release the throttle. Any idea what that could be?

    Thanks

Easiest next things to check are the front sprocket and the cush drive.

try putting the bike on paddock stands and spinning the rear wheel by hand
then try starting the bike putting it in gear letting it run on the stands see if you can hear it

Maybe the Cam Chain Tensioner? - and you are not hearing it at higher speeds.

Thanks, I'll have a look at both.

Ordered a new stand for the bike, will try it once it arrives, thanks!

Nope, it's smooth at higher speeds. The noise only happens at low speeds, when I come off the throttle. Really bizarre.

If I feather the cluth as I come off the throttle then the noise doesn't happen. So frustrating as it's ruining my fireblade for me.

Try Rev it fairly high (with the bike stood still in neutral) and then release the throttle. Mine had a bad rattle when doing that. I didn't notice any rattle when riding it at higher speeds. Replacing the CCT sorted mine (2014 RR-E @ 20000 miles) The noise on mine was similar to this

Sorry, should have said that it's not a rattle. It's a knock that literally last for a second, I let go off the throttle at low speeds, it knocks and that's the end of it. The knock sounds like metal clanging.

Possibly excess play in the drive chain.
