a huge huge +1 for this!! I'm an early riser anyway, bonus now when its cooler, and it keeps domestic harmony much better hahah
"You're free to choose, but you are not free of the consequences of your choice." There's no denying the thrill of riding with no clothes on (!) but the 'what ifs' are just too nasty. There's nowt you can do if you're sliding down the road, and no-one likes to see a nylon shorts and skin fusion! I've heard of someone getting short shrift in A & E after an off, because the medics thought most of their injuries were easily avoided.
True that, I try to avoid the Fridays before a Bank holiday, too many people with other things other than driving on the road
I went out midday Saturday very hot, when I came home I had to lay on the kitchen floor so that my wife could pull my leathers off because they were stuck to me, never happened before, came home today and my wife had said she had brought me a present, I thought it was something for the bike, turned out to be baby powder,
Some years back we had a 2 day open track day at Magny Cours where the temp was above 35 both days, it was so dehydrating and you were sweating so much that the seat of the bike ended up salt stained, at the hotel after the second day we returned to a car park full of Ferrari’s, there for a club track day the next day as it transpired, the sight of a bunch of bikers jumping in the pool with their leathers on had them choking on their G&Ts, they thought we were slightly mad, and were probably right as putting still wet leathers on to ride home the next day wasn’t so funny either
I guess I'm kinda conditiond to the heat with working out side ,,,,,, as long as I'm sweating I'm ok ,,,,,,, when you stop sweating heat stress can become a problem. I'm more than happy to sweat in leather Me grandad said What keeps eat in keeps eat out lad
Base layers FTW when in comes to removing sweaty leathers. I always wear them and never have problems getting my leathers off. Now a good xmas can make them difficult to put on even with base layers though
I was at Blyton yesterday on a CB500 only track day and reckon I drank more than the bike I'd rather it had rained as my legs feel like jelly now.
@Manfred North, what like North Pole ? Last time Greece East otherwise known as Kent was 13C was around February
I've yet to find a temperature too hot to ride in (not trying to tempt fate!). Always in full PPE whether it be leathers, textiles, kevlar jeans etc. Snow/Ice is the only show stopper for me.
I think I have been out on my RR8 in 30~33. The only heat issue problem for me is my bum getting roasted So I plan my rides to avoid slow traffic jam. In comparision my previous VFR VTEC was a king in this department. When I was lining in the UAE, I saw an RR9 near my building and would have loved to ask the same question of the rider (40~45C summer temps!)
It felt like the North Pole. Cool temperatures from Hartside all the way to Kielder Forest and back. Significantly warmer in Melmerby
No option yesterday and today, took the Blade for testing yesterday at 7pm bike failed but only 44’C, went to get new tyres today at 3pm then back to the test centre, passed, just nudging 47’C and about 80% humidity. It felt like I’d been riding in a UK summer, got home soaked!
I’m surprised you didn’t charred your bum! You are not the guy riding a black & white cbr 2008+ near Dubai marina 2013~14?. Are you?
Make the most of the next few days 24 to 26 in the Costa del South.....also before we all get locked down again....Winter is coming......
Here she is. Waiting patiently on the drive this morning for me to get my gear on. We had a nice ride out and the weather was perfect round Cambridgeshire. Please ignore the chicken strips. I'm still fairly new at this game.
