    Thanks Arthur, I'm heading that way. Any idea what that can is like inside. why is the standard linkpipe 61mm diameter and about 35mm at the inlet? What's inside it and why??? Looks like anything I stick on the end of the standard linkpipe is gonna be too loud if I stick to 63mm o/d. I may even try a serpentine pipe, a la R77 etc. to recover the link pipe length and still use a stubby? Any help appreciated.:D

    Woow lots of questions mate...lol Do you mean whats the baffel like mid way on the Racefit? If so it was just a race spec perforated packed baffel much like you have made, that seems to loose most of the whack from the motor and the can dampens that again the overall sound was moderate.. The RaceFit can is very short as is the primary baffel can and yes size was around 60mm is that was your asking mate or have I missed the plot...lol

    Yes mate. So that primary can is about 60mm o/d, any idea of the i/d and the o/d of the link pipe? The standard RRW linkpipe is 61mm o/d , but the pipe that goes into it is a lot smaller, 35mm ish. Just wondered why and what is the standard pipe like inside cos it aint like a packed baffle set up??? confused.com.

    Ahh I am with you.. The OD is big mate even on the 750.. see this www image for scale

    [IMG]

    at a guess the OD of the connecting pipe is aprox 90mm OD and 65mm ID the 1st can was 120mm OD with baffel at aprox 70mm ID..

    baffel
    [IMG]

    Does that help? You would expect with such a large pipe it would be super loud but no, I would say the headers on the GSXR750 are much the same bore as yours..

    Yeah you would think it ear splitting but no... it was OK... You hear systems like the TM that uses a traditional baffle box so not straight through and they kick out some noise sometimes I wonder why all the work when a baffled tube works better much like you have..

    That last picture is that the can or the primary baffle? Gonna find out about standard link pipe and then probably bin it and fit a primary and maybe a baffled link pipe. Cheers mate.

    Well I was sent some proper silencing material by a very kind gentleman on another forum. So I packed the 250mm long by 35mm bore baffle , polished up the "silencer" and refitted it today. Whadya reckon;

    It ain't gonna get any quieter than this unless I fit a pre silencer under the engine. The standard exhaust system has a four into two into one which is about 48mm diameter welded to the linkpipe which is 61mm diameter. Not sure what goes on inside the link pipe, but there aint much silencing! Here's a coupla pix of the collector and link pipe;

    So I will either redesign the link pipe with a silencer in it or fit a 4" diameter pre silencer and a serpentine link pipe, as fitted to late model Blades with aftermarket Yoshimura or Akrapovic silencers.

    That looks old school nasty Alan. And the view down the silencer looks so factory quality. Respect due dude. I'm looking forward to Mega 'phone' watt zorst PLC even more now.

    This specialised silencing material. It intrigues me. What's it like?

    Thanks Ken. The silencing material is a type of fibreglass matting, but it's quite soft and feathery. I'll post a piccy up later!:D

    Here's the exhaust packing that was given to me. It's about 1/2" thick and very soft and feathery!

    I used about this much in the can. Tried to get two layers in, but it was too tight a squeeze!!!
