    Hi guys,
    Still getting pain in wrists after riding for an hour or more, so looking into aftermarket clip ons.
    Which are a good set to get and is it a ball ache to get all atuff set up on them?

    Never used them but people seem to mention Heli-bars (I think that's right)... can't imagine a set of bar risers would take long at all to fit..

    I have Heli bars on my 2016 SP and they make a huge difference to comfort and fit very well without modifications .
    Been to europe 3 times with them so great for mileage .

    Don't forget that clip-ons are really there so you can change the angle of the bars, usually closer to you for racing as you don't need much of a turning circle on track. You can achieve the same thing by removing the bars and grinding off the locating pin. Worked fine on my RR6, now my bars are closer to the tank.

    I've tried what someone recommended to .e and moved the standards ightly.as there's a few mm of play to see if that helps.
    I think its the angle of the bars that are causing me wrist pain. See if it has .are an improvement.

    Yeah it's the angle of the bars that the pins in the standard bars are used to lock the bars in to place. If you cut the pins off then you can change the angle of the bars.

    I would personally recommend Gilles Vario adjustable clip ons. Not the vario bars with risers, just the clip ons, as the vario kit with riser is around the £300 mark. Whereas the vario adjustable clipons are around £160. I have restricted movement in my wrist due to an accident so these made a massive difference to me. You can adjust the angle to make them flatter which I found much more comfortable. I am also quite tall and much prefer to be lent forward than bolt upright.
    I don't have them fitted on my Blade but I had them on my 04 ZX10R. In those days we used to go speed touring round France over 6 days covering 1,800 to 2,000 miles in that time, twisty roads only. My 1st trip on the 10 was with standard clipons and that was agony and felt like I was taking part in a Japanese endurance show from the 80's. You will have to be of a certain age to get the reference! For the following years trip I fitted a set of these Gilles vario adjustable clipons and would finish each day's riding with a smile on my face, rather than a pained grimace!

    I'm thinking about a set of these for my old girl . not every ride but most I'm getting a pain in wrists I'm 6.2 and too lockdown fat so that doesn't help

    Hi folks. A thread I'm interested in. @Carl Abbott it looks like Gilles have changed their offering and only the set with the bars is available at nearer £400 for ,my 2015 model.
    @cronester did you have to re-route cables for the Heli bars? I see conflicting info between the Helibar website and searches on the web.

    Hi Weejockie, The main change regarding cables is the throttle unit is rotated so the cables are below the handlebar instead of above and the front brake line is moved slightly but all very straight forward. I didn't need to move the switch wiring as mentioned in the instructions as there was sufficient length with the standard route. I found that everything fitted very well and the switches etc are all properly located on the bars. When looking at the bike, most people don't even notice they are different but the riding position is seriously improved. Some more detail and photos at this link.

    Thanks, @cronester . Very helpful. Looks like those are the ones to get! Next on the list is a bit more padding on the seat (I don't have enough on my own!). I'm going to look at getting some memory foam inserted into a 2nd hand seat. People seem to swear by the e-Cushion but they're more rare than hens' teeth!

    Padded cycling shorts under your leathers are an easy and relatively cheap fix. I have an ecomfort on the blade but previously something like this worked for me.

    Thanks, @Boothman , that's an idea I hadn't thought of. I think I'll persevere with the 2nd hand seat and keep this as a further 'enhancement' if I manage to keep my weight down and still have space in my leathers! Are the e-cushions really that good?

    I also have the ecushion seat which I found on ebay and they really do help with comfort on longer trips. As far as I can see, the interior padding is made of a completely different material to the standard unit and it definitely works.

    Hi Weejockie, that's a bit disappointing because I personally rate them. They fitted without any need for adjustment or change to the original switchgear / lines ,etc. You only have to drill a hole on the RH clipon for the anti turn / locating pin on the RH switch gear. Out of curiosity what is the big piston fork diameter on a 15MY Blade?
    I just had a look online and it seems I'm a bit out with my pricing. For 08-14 the correct price is £256. The ones I saw on the bay are Silver ones which have been discounted by Calsport at 166.

    PS. I agree with the others with regards to the e-comfort seats. They do make a difference. #mybunsmatter! I mean no disrespect in any way shape or form by adapting another movements slogan but from riding a motorcycle perspective, buns do matter, whatever shape, size or colour they are. And it's high time the manufacturers took note! Who else is fed up with manufacturers skimping on their seats? It's time ladies and gentlemen! Time to make our voices heard. It's time to listen to our buns! Who's with me? Oops, just seen the time. Sorry all, have to go now, as I'm up early tomorrow! Stay safe all

    Hi @Carl. They are 50mm. To be honest, compared with Helibars, the only real difference appear to be that you can adjust them the bar angle at 4 degree increments. I think the height is the main thing I'm trying to achieve so may just stick with them and revers the throttle cables as required.
    I agree on seating. I hear there are some campaign managers going cheap in the US. Couldn't quite figure out the original ~£400 cost of the e-cushion, but certainly everyone does seem to rate them. Wonder what's in them? I'm going to give the memory foam a go and will let everyone know how the poor old bum gets on.

    Hi Weejockie, good luck, I hope they make all the difference.
    I know sportsbikes aren't built with comfort in mind but manufacturers could make more of an effort seat wise! I guess the demand isn't there. I might be moving on to pastures new around easter time, so if I do move on then I'll drop u a line and see if you want my e-seat, in case you haven't sorted anything out in the meantime. Only £399 as it's you! Lol. Only joking. Take it easy!
