2017 vs 2019 - will I miss something ?

    As UK has been the scam capitol of the world for few decades now, we have learned to be weary of things we buy.
    Perhaps I misunderstood you initially.
    So you bought the bike from an individual who in turn had bought it from the dealer. The fact that you think he was shafted by dealer is not consequential to your case.
    Over here I would say you were sold a product that was mis-represented; intentionally or not. You are entitle to a refund/ compensation.
    I can appreciate you are prepared to take it on the chin and move on if you feel you bought a good 2017 example at a good price rather a 2019 at a bargain price.

    As always if something looks too good to be true, then it is too good to be true!

    Happy riding. BTW are your bikes still restricted to 100PS?

    Yes you're right.

    Concerning the seller, he asked which bike I had before when I first called him (implying he would not sell such powerful bike to a newbie). When we met he took the initiative to show me the bike in great details (that's were I should have know better, yep), he and his wife then asked me to call them once I get back home to be sure I made a safe trip, he keeps answering my calls, etc... I might be a poor judge of ones character but if he is indeed a scammer, I'll consider the benefits of paranoia.
    The dealer ship on the other end is a bad liar, no question about that.

    Now.
    Do I want to do another freaking winter trip, get back to the seller, be on foot again for awhile looking for a real 2019 that probably would cost a bit more than I can reasonably afford, and take the chance that it might not be in such stellar condition as the one I got now ?
    I weighted no.

    I'm sure mad that the dealership is a crook and I said amen to his bad pratices, but I gota own my decisions and turn the page now.

    Our bikes are legally full power for a couple of years now :) Not that I ever met someone with a restricted bike before that though.

    You'll be just as happy with the '17. It's the same bike to all practical intent. The TT marshalls didn't describe it as being different to the ' 17 in any practical way.

    Yet it is fundamentally different in that the dash and ECU are unique to the 2019 model and offer a singularly unique setup option - lamented about since January 2017. Separate levels of Traction Control and Wheelie Control independently select-able.

    The guy was ripped off. If he was sold a 2019, he should have received a 2019.

    Don't even need to turn the bike on to see if its an MY19, if you look at MY17 and MY18 bikes compared to an MY19 the MY19 has "more" white in the streak across the petrol tank than the two previous years.

    Quite a lot of UK dealers try to pass off MY17/18 bikes as MY19 as well, easiest way is to just look at the tank. I'm sure someone can put up some comparison photos, but yeah, sorry to hear about you getting the wrong bike.

    There's not that much difference between them, I read the ECU/TCU was changed slightly for MY19, but not sure how right that actually is beyond just splitting the settings out.
