Removing ignition barrel and replacing it after theft attempt

    Not sure how to go about this but two little scumbags tried stealing my 2015 Fireblade recently and snapped the steering lock lug on the frame and in the process damaging the ignition barrel to the point that the key fails to turn. I need a barrel and was wondering what do I do about new keys? It's a H.I.S.S ignition system obviously so was wondering what problems will I encounter? Any help would be appreciated.

    You will need a new ignition switch and 2 new chipped keys and the antenna if thats broken ,you will be able to programme the 2 keys to the ECU ,look at the Immobiliser System HISS at the back of your Workshop manual, you wont need the Honda Tool , as you can make one yourself, (plenty of video's)

    I don't suppose you can order new coded locks

    Might be worth buying a lock set from a bike being broken/tracked?

    It happened in broad daylight in front of my house at 4.30pm on a Friday afternoon. Two toe rags on a stolen bike snapped the steering lock and were about to rob my bike by using the stolen one to push it whilst the other one steered mine. I caught them before they got away, they just dropped my bike and fucked off.

    Thanks for the advice guys, I've removed the triple clamp and removed the barrel and have managed to get the key to turn. If I turn the key to the steering lock position it jams up. If I pull on the small stem that would normally sit inside the steering lock lug then the key turns without any problems, turning from the OFF position to the ON position perfectly. I can turn it towards the STEERING LOCK position fine until a certain point and then something inside the barrel sounds like it's latching into something and this is when it locks up. So long as I don't turn it towards the steering lock position it turns and fires up. Now that the steering lock frame lug is damaged I no longer need to use steering lock so the bike runs fine, just need to remember never to fully turn it to steering lock position or otherwise the bike isn't moving anywhere. In future I'll never use steering lock again, always use a disc lock from now on, not worth the hassle.

    Have you considered the insurance aspect? My insurance won't pay if its nicked without the steering lock on.

    They must have broken the steering lock off when they stole it, Oh and look what they have done to the ignition lock, mister insurance man.o_O
