looking at stocking up with replacement pads on my RR8.
The front are down to 2 mm (afte 17kmiles).
Has anybody used brembo alternatives for road use? They are better priced than OEM by a long way

Tried all sorts in litre Blades, always come back to OEM, and if you’ve managed 17K , I’d stick with them as either your the fairy godmother or the front brake hoses are disconnected, as I’ve never managed close to 10K, that’s seriously impressive brake control :D

    thanks
I’m not heavy handed, make good use of the rear brake (which show the same level of wear :)) and the excellent engine braking
    No magic
I’m led to believe brembo has a softer compound, give better performance and less wearing on the disc but not as long lasting compared to the OEM.
    So is the claimo_O

Softer compound normally means less life in anything

I use SBS pads as they are cheaper than brembo or OEM, but I go through them a lot quicker as it's track only that they are used for. How you've managed to get 17k out of a pair is unreal, I would just pay the extra premium and get OEM ones if they have lasted you that long.

current ones are not dead yet; still 2mm of meat left on them:D; my chain is doing even better:cool:

like I said, road use only which means planning ahead and avoiding heavy braking where there are other stupid , slow abscent minded car /van/ lorry drivers.

they get heavier used on fast winding roads I know with plenty of visibility (pothole permitting!)

    Thanks guys

I’ve used the Brembo SC and SA pads. No complaints about them. The SC (grey backing and red pads) are more marketed towards fast road riding/track whereas the SA (red backing and grey pads) are more of a road use only pad (from my interpretation). However, for my use on the road, I couldn’t really notice much difference between the SC and SA. SC for front brakes and SA for the rear as I don’t believe they make the SC for rear brakes. I’ve used SC on the front, SA on the rear twice. SA front and rear once.

I’m not sure what pads my blade came with, but I replaced them as they felt lacking in bite/feel. SC front, SA rear and Hel lines. They gave me a bit more bite and feel, but no way near the difference I got when I changed my OEM pads for the same setup on my MT10.

My preferred choice now is EBC’s HH. I find the performance to be on par with the Brembo’s and the cost is almost 50% less. I’m on my second set on the MT10 and have just replaced the front pads on my NC750 with them.

    Thanks guys
yes brembo people said for road only SA is recommended (and a little cheaper too) in preference to SC.

I am a fit & forget person so longetivity is important so prepared to give a bit on the pad wear if they reduce disc wear compared to OEM
