    I can testify that the Power 5's are good in the wet after a wet session on track yesterday, tyre pressure were lower than road setting but hard acceleration and the back end didn't let go, result.

    Can't think I have ever tried any Michelins and fancy giving them a go now. I was not that convinced by them when MotoGP riders were crashing all over the place after they moved from Bridgestones.

    Not tried any Pirellis either so will give them a go as well sometime.

    Thought I would give a little update.
    Done about 800 miles on the power 5 now and I'm delighted. Great in the wet I just don't even think about the roads being wet and tend to just ride normally without any issues so big thumbs up.
    The front is feeling very planted and gets a bit of abuse yet barely looks scrubbed in.
    The rear is similar in that it looks barely used when I remember how the RS10 looked at similar mileage it was well worn but not the Power 5.
    Its slipped a couple of times on mud (effing tractors!) But never on wet roads. In the dry its great, I just keep winding it on and it just goes and its always the front that lifts and no slippage.
    The only test I've not had yet is really cold weather but that's not far away :confused:
    I had hoped for 2500 out of the rear and I am confident I will get pretty close to that, at least 2000 minimum but 2500 should be reasonable.
    Chicken strips pretty much gone and so far very pleased with them and more than happy to recommend them, just remember the profile is more of a roll into a corner rather than a drop into a corner. If your going to track them a more aggressive profile might be preferred but personally I like a U profile more than a V profile.
    Other than that they are great.:D

    Well let me tell you guys and girls about my Power 5's. On my second rear now which has lasted 2500 miles and could of gone on for another 300 - 500 miles but got a slow puncture, that also included 1 track day. Next week I've 2X back to back track days on different tracks so I'll report back on how they faired. Front tyre looks hardly worn and like Paul I love the feedback they give you.

    So these Michelin Power 5 are still doing well now that we have had a bit of rain and a few miles ? interested to hear a bit more info if there is any more to add.......

    Anybody got any feedback on the new Metzeler M9 RR ? although the profile might be a bit sporty for the new bike - but still be interested to hear any reports of what they are like.

    Remembered this thread at the weekend when I had to replace the rear Power 5 I fitted last year.
    I was getting down to the tread wear indicators so wanted to check how much left when I spotted a shiney pin prick, so a bit of digging in the rubber and I pulled out an inch long nail.
    End of the power 5 , however to update the thread I was coming up to 2000 miles since fitting and I was down to the wear indicators but tyre still looked good, no chunking or anything.
    I maybe could have done another 100 or 150 miles before being illegal so I got my money worth.
    Immediately replaced it with another Power 5. They worked great during the winter, in the wet and brilliant in the dry.
    One point to note is I fitted the wheel and new tyre back to the bike and forgot to check the pressure. My mistake! Anyway on the new tyre several times the traction kicked in even after it was well scrubbed in. The tyre fitter had rhe cold pressure at 43psi. I dropped it to about 37psi and no more traction control flickering on when accelerating hard. So that slightly bigger contact patch with a bit more squish in the sidewalls had a bigger effect than I expected.
    Anyway great road tyre and the front is about half worn now so should get 2 rears to 1 front with decent mileage and superb all weather grip

    Interesting. Someone on the Ducati forum reported having two similar punctures.

    They did win the tyre review in one of the magazines, up against all the main competition - Practical Sportsbikes I think it was.

    I'm not complaining about the puncture as it looked like it had been in a little while and more importantly the tyre was ready for change anyway.
    It's a very impressive road tyre and certainly my new go to tyre range.
    Funnily enough I hated the original michelin 2ct as I never got any feedback from them and couldn't be confident with them but these are like a completely different animal.
    I shall look up that tyre test referred to.

    Currently on my 2nd rear & the 1st front. Can't remember what I got from the 1st rear....but over 4000 klms (2500mls),,,in the end I also picked up a puncture that wouldn't take a plug, so replaced with same. Love them.....I'm no tyre expert....but last year in the Picos the bike felt glued to the road. Really nice soft compound on outer edges. I'll never push them to their limits. As for wet conditions, well my brain goes onotp safe mode on wet roads, so I always back of to 60% of normal dry weather riding.

    Update on Power GP's, rear tyre lasted 2100 miles including 1X track day, well impressed with them, highly recommended.

    Anyone have experience with both the Power 5 and Power GP? Now that the Power RS has been discontinued and are as scarce as hens teeth, I’m leaning toward the GP’s. Any pros and cons?

    Yes I had both on my Blade, Power 5 great for road but on track I had the rear let go a few times and at that time Michelin didn't make a 200 for the rear in the GP. Now I've done a track day on the GP OMG, super sticky tyre which gives you so much confidence when powering out of corners, love them, a great successor to the RS.

    Very interesting reading about all of this. No doubt the Michelins are top tyres - rated in tests and by users alike.

    In the end went with the Metzeler M9 RR - a set duly ordered and will be fitted on Friday.

    They look ace !

    Perhaps Michael Rutter should put a set of Michelins on a stock GSX-R and do a 120 mph lap of the TT with them ......:D

    Really pleased, looking forward to trying them out

    All fitted - £98 including disposal of old tyres, a couple of weights. labour and testing.

    Rode them home on drying roads. Turn in beautiful. Seemed less rolling resistance (might be because they were at correct pressure :rolleyes:) but noticeable.

    Super nice grippy-tastic Metzeler M9........hooorrraaayyy :D.

    Another bike - another set of Metzeler M9

    The stock Dunlop Roadsport 2 were doing fine until it got properly cold the last week - temperatures dropped quite a bit and the Roadsport 2 were starting to loose grip on the corners of the smoother dry tarmac.

    Sure, we should not be riding like it is the summer, but I reckon these Metzelers will do a better job on the cold roads we have now.

    (£94 fitted today)
