I've worn arai since the 90s . I've had 2 agv and a Simpson r8 about 94 but most of the time it's been arai . my current one an access 2 is due for change especially as I've just done 2300 miles over 3 days in it . both visors fucked pads worn ect . now I fancy a change . had enough of arai pod wind noise. I like the look of the x lite 803 in carbon and price good at sportsbike shop. I've looked at shoei but no design really excited me. ive ruled out an agv didn't get on with last one . so thoughts on the 803 or pointers for a different lid please . it will be used all year in all weathers .
same as above i use an hjc rpha and they seem good quality, quite a few mates have bought one too coming from the usual shoei arai brands
I went from an arai rx7v to an x lite 803 carbon, to me the arai feels more substantial for some reason? Maybe just heavier or just more to the lid? the 803 looks feels plush and as you would expect being carbon, very very lite. I would say the arai is a tad quieter and has the option for wearing glasses and using a comms system where as the 803 doesn’t. if I used 2 or 3 different lids I would have another 803 without a doubt but if an only one no I wouldn’t say for the above reasons.
Had xlite carbon 803 for almost 2 years and absolutely love it, extremely light and when using ear plugs reasonably quiet, only minor criticism is the green liner why green ? but other that no issues, buy one you won't be disappointed.
AGV K6 - comfortable, very little wind noise. The latest from AGV. I have a few lids around and now use the AGV all the time (mostly )
Had a Schuberth S2 ( still in the garage ) but recently got a HRC RPHA70 and it's amazing, some really nice designs too.
No substitute for just trying them on and going with whatever suits your head. I used to have an Arai Viper GT because it was a long oval shape which suited me. Almost everything I tried since felt like trying to stick my head in a bucket I'm now using an LS2 Arrow Carbon and it's the best helmet I've had. Light as a feather. Really quiet. Doesn't buffet around like other lids I've had..........and most importantly, it slots nicely onto my rugby ball bonce.
I've just ordered a HJC RPHA-11 because I needed another lid to go with my 2 X-Lite Ultra Carbon's and my Arai. Looking forward to seeing what it's like and I'll stick my Bluetooth thingy in it. The X-lites are a pain to fit the speakers if you don't buy the N-Com unit.
