Hi all. Been thinking for a while to start a business up offering MC detailing service with general maintenance, paint protection film fitting and other small jobs people can’t do themselves or rather pay someone. I know like myself and many others on here,love working on they’re own bikes and take pride in making them look beautiful and running sweet but I see loads that don’t and hate giving they’re bikes a good scrub and a polish. working full time at the moment but I need a change, been in the same career 37 years and really fed up with it lately so was thinking of just doing weekends at first to see if I can get enough work to get a liveable wage from it and go full time. What you think all, do you think there’s a slot in the market for something like this. Cheers
I'm sure @Lozzy will be up for a scrub and fettle!! Good luck with the new venture! Personally for me, part of the joy of motorcycle ownership is cleaning it and doing little jobs yourself. Like you say though, there's plenty of scruffy bastards out there
Suppose it may depend on whereabouts you are too. High density population, fewer homes with garages etc makes working on bikes more difficult for many. Doubt if there are so many willing to ride for miles when all they need is a small job doing. YMMV. Good luck all the same

I think it could do well mate. I would imagine the more jobs you can do the better it would be. If you could service forks and calipers etc you'd expand your market. Other things like fitting heated grips or aux power sockets scares some people to death yet could be a good part of your business that would do well. Basic fault finding etc would be a good service to offer too. I bet there are a lot of people that get themselves in a pickle with simple stuff. With a van and some good equipment you could even fit and balance tyres. Good luck.
You're right...I hate cleaning mine. I'd happily pay for someone to give it a good clean and acf50 it regularly in the winter. And like Charlie says, all the other little things would be handy too.
I've considered doing something similar. Over the years I have amassed all the gear to do it but I would spend far to much time on it to make a living out of it!. Compared to cars motorbikes have much more surfaces to clean, paint is thin and soft so less forgiving to correct and bits like decals and trim getting in the way. Generally it takes a lot more effort to get a satisfactory finish. If you can get the balance right of time/materials cost and customer satisfaction then do it! But as other have said expand deffo into the other maintenance jobs
I don't know if there is and rarely clean my bikes but I hope that it works out for you. I'd love to change careers like that. I like to do the mechanics side of things but I can't imagine there's money in it and I couldn't afford a yard big enough to bury all the rude customers I fell out with.
This is so true. I do mates bikes for them every now and again. Did a mates kawasaki h2 for him and ended up spending best part of 12/14 hours on it, definately wasnt worth it but bike looked mega
No reason why you can’t make a go of it mate,I did similar with cars to the point it took over my normal work. social media is obviously a massive free platform to get your name out there and people like autobright do very good product at a very reasonable cost. good luck with it
