I’ve got a 2009 hrc blade I’ve slowly developed a whine which only really seems to be under load in gear although on tick over I think I can hear it too sometimes. If it’s the dreaded crank whine what’s the best course of action Read a few posts a few years back and some were leave it/ live with it and others were fix straight away …..my whine seems more like a gearbox whine but I’ve not investigated too far yet lol Bike runs and rides well. I do tend to ride reasonably hard but not like on track, just road use. is it better to source a newer later engine? (13-16) Or whip mine out and get it repaired? It’s only on 13k allegedly is there anyone on here who’s been through it and has an idea of cost? Or anyone on here who works on these and fancies a job I’m guessing cheaper to fix before it lets go than after but am I likely to get another 20000miles before hand or no chance! cheers for any help and advice.
M Yeah, I know really. I’ve not been out on it for a few months. So once the weathers a bit better I’ll take her out and have a good listen and make a mental note of the symptoms and noise. But I’m guessing the worst. I guess what I should of wrote was “anyone here got any recommendations for a good reliable mechanic who works on these engines for a price to replace the crank” or is it cheaper to buy a low mileage later engine lol
i use road and race in verwood , not much they dont know about engines. they built my gsxr engine for me, and im going to get them to do my cbr engine when the time comes.
Have a search on here for the crank whine mate, I could be wrong but there was something similar to your year of bike
Yeah I know it’s a common issue. Was hoping someone might pop up and say they had theirs sorted and it was x amount ££ Or try here Or even better someone who builds engines on here who wants to do it. I’ll have another search and see what pops up
