Hey guys, I`m new here, haven`t introduced myself yet as I don`t own a fireblade yet Anyhow, I have a few bikes, 2016 Z1000xs-long term loaner, KLR650-mud device, and an SV650s-a spare atm. I`ll be returning the Z1000 to my brother this summer and I need a bike to replace it. I`ve been riding this one for the past 4 years-40k/km. I`m looking for something kinda road biased, I do about 3-4 trackdays a year, and I tend to use the SV for those at times. I`m not a wealthy guy, but I always liked fireblades. RR4-RR7 are well within my budget, and my riding style is a fast-ish road rider. If anyone can compare it to the Z1000 would be great! But I assume it`s on par performance vise. Top end power is probably well beyond, but how about low down and mid range? Comfort vise, I find the Z1000sx a bit too upright actually. I tend to kinda squish my upper body when sitting straight up and I did 12 hour stints on the sv650s many times actually prefering the position. How would the blade compare? I could invest into a set of adjustable clip ons, I saw a set that is about 3" adjustable. I think that should be plenty. I`ll be looking at the cleanest examples I can get, but is there anything I should look out for? I know that stators tend to go, but you can`t check that beforehand. Also I prefer the look of the 04, but I read somewhere that the midrange improvements on the 06 were quite big. In that case I would go 06. Anyway, I`ll take any advice I can get! Tnx!
Do it. Buying an RR5 was one of the best things I ever did, other than buying an RR6 too They're pretty bullet proof, not really much to look out for that can't be fixed. I didn't notice any difference in power on the RR6 as both had modified gearing. Both are comfy for a litre sports bike too.
So theres not much diference at all? How did you end up with two of them? track bike? I know it sounds silly, but how are power wheelies on those, second gear should be no problem right? Also gearing, -1 in front?
Yes the RR5 was my road bike and the RR6 a track bike. There are a few technical difference, but none that seemed to make any real difference. It's the bodywork difference that stands out the most. You can go -1 on the front or +2 on the rear, all amounts to roughly the same gain in power at the wheel, but I'm no good on the back wheel so I can't comment how well they wheelie.
I've had my rr7 for 7 years. The first 4 years it was used on the road and then it became a track only bike. I've had nothing go wrong with it in that time and just had to service it.
Hi, if you are seriously interested in that year of bike my silver 06 will be up for sale in the very near future
