    Afternoon all.

Looks like I'll be needing to replace the front pads on my RR4 shortly. Any suggestions on brands to go for / avoid.

The bike won't be going near a track. It's just for quickish road riding :)

Give my mate Ryan a buzz at Moto-RaceSpares, Motocross Tyres, Road Race Consumables and get yourself some SBS sintered pads. You'll not go wrong. I race with them and they've never not stopped me, plus they have great feel and modulation, so not snatchy in the wet. Tell him bongo put you onto him to give me a browny point lol

Whatever you do, don't go for the gold branded sintered ones on ebay, they are dangerous! I use EBC HH pads and find them far superior to any others. Used them at Donington and was impressed. They stop you like race pads but without the need to warm them up, are great wet and dry and wot break the bank. Job done!

Thanks for the advice, lads. I saw the warnings about the Gold Fren eBay jobbies. Looks like SBS it is :)

I tried them in the R1 but removed them after a few hundred miles of playing " am I gonna stop? "

Tried a few different makes incl. SBS, EBC Carbone Lorraines etc. but reckon Brembo are best! (expensive enough though)

Give me a call 028 9185 9335 and we'll sort you out with a members discount on SBS brake pads.

We stock SBS, Ferodo, Carbone Lorraine and EBC. Really rate SBS and Ferodo, SBS are a top top pad.

We do site discounts on SBS pads and HEL Brake LInes.

    Cheers

I have used GoldFren pads (ceramic carbon and organic) myself (I like to know the market) and I know the main importers of them "HiLevel Enterprise" Imo they work and are a cheap option pad, I know many others that also use them on the road and even some that have used organics on track days I have had no dramatic failures with them and I think the only gripe has been they do not last long but then for 3.50odd a pad who would care..

I only post the info to put your mind at rest but as I say I have used pads from 3.00 to 180.00 so have experience of most.. I would have no problem with them in the circumstances you wish to use them for.

I fully agree with Jonny the pads he has listed are top of the pile and I trust and sell the same brands as well as use them in my own bikes.. I am also a fan of Brembo pads.

I take it you mean these:-

Yes, dangerous is a bit strong I admit, but if you are riding a litre bike fast, dont expect them to stop you on a sixpence. Fine for gentle riding but even then I like the bike to stop when I want it to. Good pads could save your bacon one day.

I've noticed a few people have recommended the brembo pads but which compound?
I'll be needing new pads shortly and i've come across some well priced brembo ones on the internet, but they are the sintered ones.

Another quick question about this. It says in the Haynes manual to replace the pad bolts when you replace the pads. Does anyone actually do this or just give the bolts a taste of loctite?
