Anyone know what's involved in removing the ABS undertray and replacing it with the non-ABS one?

The ABS has been removed from my 2010 and I'd like to clean up the back end of the bike.

    Is it a big job?

I would imagine it's just a case of putting a non abs under tray in...... Which will effectively just become the battery tray.

If the ABS has already been removed I would say the hard parts been done. Getting the tray out might mean splitting the subframe which is fairly easy to do.... If youve done the pillion peg removal it will be along the same lines as that as far as what will need removing. :)

Remember that the battery location is in a different position in the ABS model compared to the standard. Not sure if this might impact on battery strap holding hooks, and more importantly the length of cabling to the positive and neg terminals. Hopefully one of the track guys might elaborate on this for you.

Battery location and SIZE are different. Fusebox and starter relay locations are different, so is the wiring harness.

In order to do a clean job, besides a non-abs tray you will need a non-abs wiring harness, non-abs battery (because it is smaller and your batter will not fit in the non-abs tray) and a few other minor things like a new battery strap and the starter relay protection cap.

There is no way to properly fit your original main wiring harness (from abs model) to a non-abs tray, trust me I've been there.

Oh, regulator/rectifier relay is also different, in a different location and with a different plug - so you need that too along with the non-abs harness.

Don’t forget you’ll need a smaller battery to fit the non abs tray, the abs uses a ytz10s the non abs uses a ytz7s

I would imagine the process is exactly the same as pillion peg removal as Paulo has suggested, you may get away without splitting the sub Frame if you’re removing the battery tray. While you’re doing it fit some sato street hooks and get your pillion pegs off, can easily add/remove them then without the 2 cough 5 cough hour strip down

It will be a bit of a ballache dependant on how competent you are with the spanners. I know I won’t be taking my subframe off again in a hurry :D

Indeed. Unless you want to completely strip the bike to change the wiring harness.

On the other hand if that does not bother you, a used harness and reg/rec can be sourced fairly cheap.

No need to change the ECU. That being said, ABS light will be always on as long as you can live with that.
