Quite overwhelming how powerful this bike is. I have ridden up to a 600cc but it was a V TWIN cruiser (Honda shadow), nothing remotely like this. The seller took me out before I took it, gave me a lift on the back with helmet of course, I told him to take it easy and just show me the gears, he goes on the expressway and from 30mph to 85mph in 3rd with throttle half down in around a second or so... Was a bit much, considering I told him to take it easy. I am a safe rider, been on the road since I was 10 riding road bikes so my scanning is on point. Any other tips for this beast?!
LOL OK.. Good old internet comment.. No background to myself, my skills, my experience and my mindset. I said it shocked me how powerful it was,, I didn't say i shat myself on the bike and when I got off I was shaking madly. Just think about it OK.
I recommend you get it on the track once you're reasonably comfortable on the bike, it will really show you what its capable of, and you. Just be judicious with the throttle, there's no rider aids on the early blades. Good luck.

What model year is it? If it’s a 2008 to 2016 then it’s actually fairly comfy and easy to ride at sane speeds. I’ve had mine 13 years and done about 45,000 miles all over Europe, often quite slowly and never on a track!
It's a 2006... So pre electronic gizmos.. Ir has the steering damper though which is a blessing. I am 5ft 7in so I will have a lot more room on the bike... How tall are you? How did it handle across europe? Nice in 6th gear at 3k or 4k revs on those long stretches?
Is't that like asking where does the rainbow begin? The 1000 stretches back to the 1970s, though not in "fireblade" form, there's a good video on YT called 'The history of the fireblade' or something.

Get on track, use it as it should be and see what you can do on it in a safer environment...... then tone it down for the road. If you don't get on with it then get rid and get a bike you u can get on with..... Simples
You misunderstood me, I meant the first of the 1000 Fireblades. Obviously there were other 1000cc bikes before that, and I had them.

2004 was the model change year from the 954 to the under seat exhaust 1000cc. I had a 2005 and 2006, much preferred the 2006, felt like a more complete bike to me. As they say throttle goes both ways. Never tracked any of my bikes and had 8 Blades (big B and little b). 2006 is a nice road bike, decent power, riding position and it's not too focussed like a new litre bike. Just be prepared for stinky backpacks from the under seat exhaust.
