A little tour planned around Europe in June.. I don't want a tail bag sitting high up and weighting me all over the place, plus awkward positioning of items. Is there a solid side pannier system so I can place 2 bags either side of the rear wheel? No idea on the bags yet but I guess and all in one rails and bags would be sweet. Also looking for a nice tank bag too.
The idea of panniers on a blade makes me feel a bit queasy. If it doesn't fit in a back pack don't take it. IMHO
If going solo just have Kriega US20 and Kriega r20 backpack - that's all I've used for Europe and Scotland/ireland a number of times. Used to have Oxford soft luggage -(panniers, tailpack) but always took stuff I never used. Pack smart and pack light then you don't need much. The kriega backpack is Comfortable I tend not to notice its there when riding
Where are you going? Very jealous. I'd also vote for a Kriega US30 tailbag and a Kriega R20 backpack.
Croatia, to see a girl I met in Cyprus when I was living there And to a festival there. Normal people fly, but I have watched to many movies to just fly. The small Krieger 20 looks good too, not too much weight, maybe just take a bivi bag
That's a fair trek, will be bloody hot aswell in June. I can see the want for panniers now. Maybe as suggested above post a few bits out to her.
I am a minimalist, I only need a cover to sleep, basic food and room for laptop to work occasionally. Was more just for a small lightweight tent, sleep bag and food stuff.. Going to fit in airbb also, but more airbb now I have considered the pannier situ, as someone said, Ferrari cars don't trailer junk
Oh, a girl's involved. It all makes sense now Croatia is gorgeous, and the main roads are bloody brilliant. I wished I could have on a blade when I was there, I tell you.
The US20 is good as fits on rear seat well and doesn't hang over the body so doesn't rub it and scratch paint. Used on fireblade and street triple and worked well. Went to Slovenia number of years ago, took motorail from dussrldorf to innsbrook, made the journey much easier (saved fuel and was overnight on train in a cuchet so saved a hotel!). Enjoy the trip
Not sure if SW Motech do the panniers for the 06 but if they do might be worth considering if you down that route. I bought some quite a few years ago for my 11 onwards blades and they're really good. Used them when I needed to carry both mine and the other halves gear on trips and they held quite a lot. You just have to remember they're on before you go for the usual narrow filter
I'll add another vote for kreiga. Mine has lasted well, been down the road and only scuffed, holds a lot more than you think it will. Took me through La Belle Frog with no trouble.
