    Hi

I intend to buy a cbr1000rr/fireblade SP in the not too distant future. What i'm wondering is how do i identify the 2018 and 2019 models with the tweaked electronics from the 2017 model? If i go for an 18/19, i want to avoid buying a left over 17 model if you see what i mean? I've nothing against 17 models (i may buy 1, just depends whats available when the time comes), just want to make sure if i buy a 18/19 plate then i'm getting that year model.

Visually the bikes look identical (afaik) apart from the small 25 yr anniversary logo on the tank (which online photos don't show), that and i know i could check the dash to see if wheelie control is separate from traction control. I'd do this if possible but it might not be possible if i buy something from a dealer at distance without seeing it and have it delivered.

So, are there any differences i could pick up in photos (apart from that tank logo)?

The ‘19 has a broad white stripe going through the tank.

I've found the 2017 has Honda written on the bellypan in white whereas the 2018 it was written in red.
What i still don't know is whether traction control and wheelie control can be set independent of each other on the 2018, it could on the 19.

19 only. 18 was the same bike as the 17. To be honest, I doubt you’d notice the difference between the 19 and 17/18.

    Ah right ok thanks again.
Yeh i wouldn't notice anything between them on the road, apart from the dash offering slightly different setup configs.

Go ask a dealer for the start VIN codes for each model year

The model number should be on the log book :

    S1-H 2017 Model
    S1-J 2018 Model
    S1-K 2019 Model

As above, 2017 and 2018 model have identical electronics. Update was for 2019 model only.
