Afternoon guy's, I've got a 2017 sp1 and the ABS light is flashing. The bike doesn't have to be ridden for it to start flashing it can be just pushed forward a few feet with the ignition on to start. It's the same when ridden can sit stationary and it's just soon as you move it's away flashing again. Which is making me think ABS pickiup related issue. It has no dtc displayed on the dash.

It has had new front and rear tyres fitted and I can't recall if it was immediately after that or later on. I'm sure it was after but not 100%.

The sensor gap is about 0.5mm and both sensors give or take a 0.01 or so.

Is the anything common to look at ? Or best to re remove the wheels and start again?

Initially I thought it may be a faulty connector or wiring on one of the sensors, but if the bike isn't going over 4mph and its flashing, I suspect there is a different issue.
Do the brakes feel ok when a) bike cold and off b) engine running but not moving and c) riding the bike above 4mph. If the ABS goes into fault mode then the servos close the valves and it should behave like a standard non-abs bike.

Edit: I just realised you're talking about 2017 model. I think there is completely different ABS on that one to the '12-'16?

I would try putting the bike on a stand to lift the wheels, switch on and spin one wheel at a time switching of in-between, the abs system should detect this, if one sensor is not working it should not go into fault

First thing to check is the abs rings for damage. A tiny amount can call a fault. Next take the sensors out and clean them. Then do a reset (i know on a 12-16 you can turn bike on and off 5 times to reset ecu after having disconnected battery for a while) try disconnecting battery for good while and reconnect to see if fault disappears. I'm not familiar with your year of bike so apart from that someone else should br able to help.

Hey guys so I tried spinning each wheen separately and it flashed for both so looks like both sensors are picking up. Cant see any damage or cracks to either. Even tried disconnecting the battery for over an hour still no joy.

I think this thread may be of use. I've just skim read it and it would seem the abs flashing could be telling you a fault code. There is a post low down that shows the fault codes. It could be from anything apparently from wrong tyre pressures, low battery etc...

Just an update, also getting code s8 intermittently, most the time I cycle the ignition a few times and it goes but was out on Sunday and just kept coming back on.

Probably of no help but my 2012 abs flashed like that and turned out to be the battery. Wasn’t low enough to not turn the engine over but charging it up cured the flashing.
