What did I do to my bike.... Sold it. So that's another Blade gone. I now only have 1 Fireblade. On the flip side, I replaced the track bike with this and just done an afternoon at Cadwell to get a feel for it
No I didn't put any on , they still had blue on them . Edited to say if I was using new bolts I would put drop of blue on
Fuel pump stopped again so was back in at the little yellow gremlin box. Still no signs of arcing but this time I popped out all the terminals, tested their fit and tightened them all up. Three were loose, including the main one with the chunky wire. Presumably one of the other loose ones went to the pump relay and was the problem because if it'd been the main fritzing out I'd have lost a damn sight more than a pump. Don't like this setup. Can appreciate how it made the loom easier to put together but it's just a weak spot for the end user. That's two strikes. Next time I'll be tempted to sort it with a pair of snips and a soldering iron. ...but we'll see. For now it's all cleaned, tightened, slathered in DC4 and working again.
You do know it’s like glue mark The glue might be on there but it’s lost it’s stickiness The same goes for torquing If you have torqued your bolts Do not retouque after the thread lock has dried because you have then broke the seal
I must of read some shite about its still ok reuse because its still on but I always torque up and never had anything come loose. I know some bolts / studs come pre coated with blue thread lock already on.
Changed out the rear axle adjuster bolts, with titanium bolts. The original ones looked shit. Also installed a Racetorx gear shifter support. Wasn’t aware of such a simple bracket was available. I have experience false neutral’s, so I’m hoping I experience less now.
New Michelin Road 6 tyres fitted. Took them for a quick spin afterwards. Nice to have decent 100% road tyres again, instead of heavy dual-sport tyres that had squared off.
I'm going to stick my neck out and say are you sure you want them on a road bike? I'd be worried about the performance of stone cold brakes and directing all sorts of road crap towards the callipers. On a track bike that would be a different story.
Took off the gear lever to see what needed replaced to fix the awful slop. As expected, there was a worn bushing. ...but it's so thin it had me wondering how to press in a new one without damaging it. Checked the parts diagram which showed the bush as part of the £66 lever and not available separately. Eek! The bolt was also worn a bit - another £11. I don't know whether to be pleased or not at how well the temporary bodge worked. Feels so good now that it's hard to justify the best part of eighty quid to fix properly. Pretty good chance that I'll just forget about it and chop up another beer can when this wears out.
