I have a 2019 SP and I am working on some plans to keep me busy in the off season and buy the Brembo RCS 19 master cylinder and upgrade to HEL brake lines (unless anyone can recommend suitable alternatives). I have a question about the Brembo supplied brake light switch. I know I'll have to fabricate connections to the OEM wiring which is fine but does the supplied microswitch work OK with our bikes? I know on our bikes that... Not braking, the switch is depressed = brake light OFF. When you pull the lever, the switch is released = brake light ON I've read on the Internet people saying that on some manufacturers, the Brembo switch operates the other way around i.e. when the lever is at rest, the brake light is on and when you pull the lever, the brake light goes out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You'd have thought they would supply a 2-way switch so you have normally open and normally closed contacts. Consider buying mine and I'll check the switch as I never used it on my track bike https://www.1000rr.co.uk/threads/brembo-rcs19-brake-master-cylinder.42010/
I don't mean to take the piss, but have you greased the bolt on the original brake lever? Makes a huge difference if you never did it as they are tight with stuff like that at the factory.
Yes the lever is sufficiently greased. It's the overall braking performance and braking feel that I want to improve over the stock MC.
I’ve got the same brembo on my sc59 and the switch works fine, I use super seal connectors on them. Hel, venhill and goodridge are all high quality kit.
Should work fine switch. I fitted accossato to mine with switch no problem. Think biker discount still does good deals for forum on them
Just by way of an update - I went for HEL braided lines. I've mixed it up a bit and opted for the carbon look lines for the front 4 lines and stainless for the 2 rear lines to match the swing arm. As a side note: they are currently £240 delivered direct from HEL but I happened to stumble across Cregtech (Cregtech Ltd.) an independent business supplying kit and a reseller of HEL lines. After speaking with them, they offered me the kit for £205 delivered so a handsome discount over buying direct. They were delivered next working day direct from HEL exactly as I wanted so big thumbs up from me. They're also sourcing and supplying the TWM clutch lever to match the Brembo MC for cheaper than I could find at any online seller. I am no way affiliated with Cregtech - I am just sharing my good experience.
Have you looked at the biker discount store mate? Ask for Mike, mention this site and he’ll be hard to beat I’d imagine?
Yep, he certainly does. Personally, I'm not a fan of the BDS logo printed on the levers and preferred them plain. I also got them a tiny bit cheaper too.
