2008 CBR1000RR. Long time listener, first time caller... Had the bike out to wash it as I can't do much else with it atm, started on the button afterwards to dry out the bodywork and inner bits - > ran fine for 10+ mins. Blipped the throttle to 3/4/5/6k at around 77*c temp, after a little pop from the exhaust (normal) at about 6.5, the bike stopped and now does not start. No clattering or horrid noises when it stopped either, just pop - > dead. Have tried clicking the killswitch over a few times to help clear it of debris, not yet disassembled. Getting puffs of air from the exhaust regularly when attempting to start so I think the starter is moving the pistons, but that's probably not an indicator of much. Moisture somewhere or should I pull the air filter / plugs etc tomorrow? Contact me @kaiblebasha on Instagram and I'll send the video of it trying to start. Other variables: Has 1/4 tank or so of fuel but is about a year old. Can see the pump is submerged. Oil level was OK as I checked it last time I started, no visible leaks / evidence. Kill switch is on / start position Battery is 2-3 weeks old P. S. If its anything important or expensive I'm putting the bike in the bin
My money in on the fuel gone bad. In the tank it aerated but what it was running on was the residual fuel in the pipes which wasn’t exposed to atmosphere. When that ran out it sucked the bad fuel from the tank and game over.
This is what I was thinking. I've had it running every few months so kind of ruled it out. Will try some fresh and give it a go.
It is not likely to be anything serious, standard thing that happens after doing what you did. Basically as the engine did not get fully warm when you switched it off, the cold start settings have got a bit confused. A bit of throttle and keep the button pressed for 5-6 seconds should get it going after a few attempts. The trick is to let it fully warm up after washing, and make sure you give it a run round the block before putting it away. But if you want to throw it away, let me know first

Negates the need to run the bike to dry it.
As @CharlieR85 states these dryers are the business!!! I washed (jet washed on medium power) and cleaned my previous bike Yamaha Vmax1200 2003, then went to start it and flattened the battery!?! Still took some doing after recharging!?! I figured water had got into the spark plug leads and else where? So after a bit of reading and investigating I purchased a Bruhl MD1900 Dryer!.... So after the next wash I blew ever spec of water off from every part of the bike, it takes time don't get me wrong and you have to be methodical but it is effortless!!! But after I fired up the Vmax and it started 1st. Time instantly as it did every other time after a wash/clean, hence I use it on the Blade and wouldn't be with out it now!!! Cannot speak for the pet grooming models and admit that the BRUHL tho bike spercific aren't cheap but they ARE quality made. Again just my experience Cheers Andy
Mine is also a Bruhl but there's lots of bikers that say the pet ones are just the same and save you money.
