Slider recommendations please

    Hey everyone,

    Got a recommendations for frame sliders - grateful if you could post a link or give me a manufacturer. Even ones to avoid!

    Thinking of just the classic one on either side of the engine but open to the wisdom of your experience.

    I have seen some "no cut" ones...any experience of these?

    I always go for the tear drop shape. Just think the round ones look a bit blobby on the side of the fairing. Had R&G before now on two of my bikes. Can't compare others as haven't dropped on any but R&G and they've been good, not cheap though.

    I have been told to go for low profile as the stuck out ones can dig in and flip the bike onto the other side

    They'll only really dig in if the bike were to slide onto grass!

    As above go for the R@G tear drop ones they come in different lengths so get the shorter ones and they fit close to the fairing and they look suttle.....will stop a slow spill but by the time is barrelling in a field or gravel trap its farewell bike ....a friend of mine picked up a new X-R and we stopped and he thought he had put the long side stand down but he hadn't fully so bike on deck and the crash protectors saved the fairing and were the difference between ££££ of damage.

    R&G Aero. I can vouch for how good they are :rolleyes:
    Don't go for no cut bungs as the brackets can't take the weight of the bike and end up folding in on themselves. Any hole drilled in the fairing is covered by the crash bung anyway.

    Thanks MUFFKing, really appreciate that info as i had wondered about those 'no cut' bungs. Thanks i will give them a wide berth.

    Do they fold straight away or is there some strength there?

    If you mean the no cut bungs? Those that have "used" them say that the bracket folds in upon impact, causing even more damage than the crash itself. You have to bear in mind the force of dropping a bike at speed massively outweighs the strength of a staggered metal plate. Even the bolts for the R&G bungs are made of a material to give some bend so that they don't snap off in a crash.

    What year is your bike? I’ve got a set of R&G here in white that have never been out the packet… sold the bike now so open to offers for them? 08-11 model but may fit other models too (anyone know?)

    R&G for me. I've had the offset bracket snap dropping the bike in the paddock.

    The only problem I've had with the aero is on my SD where the back of the tear drop touches/hit my knee so just check clearance.
