Hi all, I have got a few trips this year in my 2020 RR-R..... Was just wondering has any one got any prefences of luggage i can use? Yes i know i must be mad lol (Edited) LOL TIA
I would be looking at SW Motech (tank bags and saddle bags) and Kriega (tail bags and ruck sacks) personally. Depends how much stuff you want to carry. Sportsbikeshop stock both, and have a good returns policy.
I've got some SW Motech I've had for 9yrs now, used them a lot and they're still as good as new. Can't fault the quality
I've got Kreiga which are 20 years old now. They look tatty but are still good for purpose, zips all ok, water tight etc. Expensive to start but they give their money's worth.
Having done a fair few Euro trips you just can't beat Kreiga tail packs US 20 with a US 10 strapped in top enough capacity for 6 days (assuming you are staying in hotels and not camping) packs are very waterproof and provided fitted correctly are extremely stable at speeds, as bladey has said expensive outlay initially but they are built to last.
Another vote for kriega. Tried other pannier type systems on Europe tours and none worked as well. Last year did a 3000 mile trip with them and only gripe is to get anything out of them means detaching from the bike which is a bit of a faff...
For least amount of faff. and if you are doing lots of trips Ventura luggage worked for me for the last 20 odd years. Not cheap, some say looks ugly, but and can be sized for short or long trips.
How about a backpack? I've got a Kriega one...you can really load them up and the design is so good you can't tell they're on!
Did tours before with backpacks and personally found them very uncomfortable... That wasn't a Kriega backpack however so maybe they'll be ok
Did you notice the R20 isn't specced as being waterproof? Think you need the R30 if you want waterproof.
I have the Kriega R20 and its brilliant. You really don't feel the weight. When I take the bike into work, its big enough for my laptop, my lunch, and a pair of trainers to change into.
Personally I'm not a fan of backpacks however light they are you know you are wearing one, Jay I would of gone for a double height tail pack. Happy travels.
Obviously, you would be well aware of it but still beginners can get enough help out this thread, touring packing must b include as much essentials as much you can because you don't need where and how you would get in touch with them but it doesn't mean to pack up the whole house . You just need to wrap up eatables, clothing, first aid kit, necessary documents, water bottles etc.
