Quickshifters

I have never had one, in fact, I have only had a 125, then my current fireblade RR-C

so, as I read it, it makes the bike a semi automatic? just click up and down the gears without using the clutch?

then when at lights or whatever, you just use the clutch as normal.

Am i right thinking when you hear a bike going up the gears and it makes that farting sound, thats a quickshifter?

 

Either that or you've been at the beans again

 

If it's just for the road then genuinely don't waste your money. There are much better things to spend your money on.

I think it must be me getting old and miserable but a QS is something else I just don’t understand. Part of the joy of riding a bike for me is the organic nature of it. Balancing throttle, clutch and gears, getting it spot on, being fully involved in the process, it’s all a piece of the magic.

Just knocking the gear lever with the throttle and clutch untouched holds no appeal. It’s one more step towards riderless bikes and I’ve no desire to spend a trip to Devils Bridge doing my knitting.

Each to their own I guess. Can’t beat a bit of frivolous spending on Amazon though, I’m fully on board with that idea.

 

I like QSs. You don't have to use it all the time you can alternate. Most folks spend more on aftermarket cans just to change the sound wheras this mod is performance enhancing too for the money. I find it great fun on fast challenging rides and love the sound it makes.
Why not go and test ride a sportsbike with one on @blink and see if you like it. Then if you do get one put on

 

They don’t always crack on the up shift, mine only does it if I’ve run a closed throttle then accelerate and use the qs, I’ve got 6 fitted on various bikes and love them, I don’t usually use it changing from 1st to second or at lower revs but when the pace picks up they’re really good to use and really makes the gear change smoother especially if you’re changing gear out of a long corner.

 

I thoroughly recommend them. For me it's a safety thing. When I'm accelerating hard I'm usually hanging on for dear life, and not having to use the clutch to change up means I don't have to loosen my grip.

 

And they’re great when you’re running from the plod.

Only downside especially on the pre 17 bikes is you lose the ability to do clutchless upshifts (I.e. roll off the throttle and snick it up). Clutchless upshifts are delightful on the older blades.

I'm guessing on the the 17+ bikes you can turn the quickshifter off in the menu if you want and do old school clutchless upshifts instead.

 

You can turn off the healtech qs with the app on your phone too.

 

Not quite sure im ready to test ride another bike, although i keep thinking about replacing mine but I dont know what for

I refuse to change it for something more 'comfortable' im not that old yet even though it might look like an octopus has landed on it

I havent managed to spend on amazon yet, but it I am considering a new microwave, mostly so I dont have to clean exploded beans off the current one.
