Picked myself up a Biketek front paddock stand the other day from a localbike shop for €38 (£33)
I was sick of rolling the bike forwards & back to try & clean the front wheel.

As I fitted the R&G axle/fork protectors last year, the stand supports only had a 5-10mm grip in the forks, which will lift the front of the bike, but was way too sketchy. So I decided the protector need to be removed for more security when lifting.

Pulled out my ratchet & 13mm socket to remove same, then realized that I needed another ratchet & socket to keep the other side from spinning. Called to local motor factors & they wanted €40 for a Teng ratchet & socket.

No chance I was spending that, so picked up a cheap Stanley socket set for €20.
2 min job to remove protector & peace of mind of bike safely sitting properly on stands.

Make the job of cleaning maintenance much easier now.

Mark - how easy is it to use these headstock stands by yourself? Thinking about getting one for my '08 so I can get the front wheel out.

Very easy ,,,,,,,, stating the obvious, get the bike up on to a rear stand first , (there are idiots out there that think that you don't need the rear stand o_O) just guide it under the nose then as you push the handle down guide the correct pin in to the hole under the headstock then push the handle the rest of the way down to the floor .
Just check it clears under the nose the first time and rear stand with bobbing hooks is better than L shape cups ;) .
I will recommend one of these ,,,,,,, very stable

    What he said^^

That being said, I managed to crack the hell out of my nose cone because I wasn't careful... Expensive and annoying mistake.

Have been using the effing brilliant ABBA stand with the front lift bar ever since, and the bike is much more secure. Still use rear paddock stand for quick jobs, but tend to use the ABBA for most jobs now.
