Was just wondering after reading about the ABS removals on various years blades.

How does this stand with MOTs ?

Clearly the tester will know it’s an ex ABS model , and with no ABS kit and a possible ABS faulty dash light , ie either not appearing or going on then off ,

Is it an issue for a tester ?

Has anyone had any issues with the MOT ?

Mine just went through OK with my nice new yellow hoses.
I have wired out the light though.

    Thanks Nigel ,
I guess there would still be the dash light present just not illuminated,

I wonder if non ABS models have the ABS light present but just not connected up ? Be interesting to know ……

Thanks a Broadie, yes I seen that , maybe I didn’t explain fully apologies ,

So when the MoT tester tests the bike he’s going to see it’s a ABS model as the light will light up and go and off , but when he looks physically at the bike he will see no ABS is connected up , / present

I just wondered if removing the ABS feature on a ABS designed bike would fail as safety feature, as it was designed on that bike at point of manufacture and has had now been circumvented and disabled ?

Luckily for Honda testing of the ABS system isn’t a requirement of an MOT. I think you’d only potentially have bother if you insured as an ABS (getting some kind of discount over a non-ABS model) but it had been removed.

Ah thanks Boothman that clears that up nicely

So to return to standard brakes , simply buy x2 new lines for the front callipers, run them from the front MC to the front callipers and x1 for the rear , runs from rear MC to rear
Calliper , bleed , and that’s it ? Oh and the ABS light mod.

If it fails, go somewhere else.
Plenty of sensible testers out there.

based on my experience, shouldn't be a problem. Mine when through and passed several times even with a light on, They only test the efficiency of the brakes

Not sure about the blades but ABS light on mine only turns off after about 5mph so would never turn off during the MOT.

In theory if the bike was originally equipped with ABS and your insurance was based on the manufactures original spec, If you had a crash that they can put down in any way to no ABS you will have no insurance, unless you have stated you have modified your bike by removing the ABS when you got your insurance
