New bike - look forward to seeing a few pics. Will you have to get a new matching lid to go with it ? - if not that is a result as well ! Happy New Year to you !
Happy new year to you too. I've got 3 lids at the minute, don't think another will go down too well. 2 are plain black/carbon, so I'm good for colour matching.
That will save you a few quid, not "having" to buy a new matching lid ! I think I am going to get this Shoei NXR 2 in orange to go with the KTM.
A couple in daylight and yes it is currently dumped in the house until the garage is built, along with lots more stuff. Yes it's on a Ducati mat but it doesn't mind.
Said I'd never buy another gloss black bike too. It's now layered with Super Resin Polish, Extra Gloss Protection, Dodo Juice wax and I've ordered some crystal sealant.
Is the tank lacquered from the factory ? My Ducati 821 Monster the tank was not lacquered - the 1200 was, but not the cheaper 821 model. You could feel the corners and edges of the tank decals, so spent a bit of time putting layers of wax on it to protect the decals. All that gloss polish will look amazing !
The reason for asking is that when I got my Ducati Monster 821 I noticed the tank did not have the clear coat lacquer finish of the 1200 - The decals were on the tank surface and would snag slightly when wiping the tank with a micro fibre cloth. Looked into it and not all the Ducatis got the clear coat finish. Thought about getting it done in a paint shop, but had already put loads of wax on it anyway, which seemed to do the job. Looking at the Aprilia it seems some of the metal tanks have had the clear coat finish - which I call lacquer, but might not be ! - but not sure which ones - or anything about it really. I have not really even seen one up close that I can remember. Be interested to know, bike looks gorgeous whatever.
Just been and had a look in the daylight, the tank is plastic and is coated. It was a new/redesign for the 21 RSV4 and Tuono. Fairly sure other Apes I've owned have just had the stickers slapped on. The guy that dropped the bike off did say they've really tried to up their game with the latest gen bikes. I suppose time will tell!
Interesting. It certainly looks a lovely bike, probably the nicest one I have seen. I don't know much about products for paint care - this is the stuff I used on the Ducati. Still had some left so just stuck some on the KTM ! Really nice bike you've got there.
Cheers Mattie. I've got a fair amount of stuff I've collected over the years from cleaning cars. Autoglym is decent and is a good price. I also have some Dodo Juice waxes, but my quick go to is Gtechniq C2V3.
Not got out on it much to yet to be honest, just around 300 miles. I'll get out more when it stops raining for longer than an hour.
Getting that 3 year itch. KTM are running a special discount on the 1290 SDR with 3k off the list price of the new Beast 3.0 version. Very tempting indeed.
There is a new KTM 1290 SDR on the way.. so they're being discounted. £3k off is a bit of a steal Aprilia tend to discount in the Autumn if you want to wait.
I currently have a 2020 Aprilia TV4F There is a KTM dealer in Edinburgh so I may try and blag a go on one and see how it compares to the Tuono. I love the Tuono and there is nowt wrong with it. No harm in looking right....
