Was glorious on the other side once I dropped below the clouds (the coast road up and round from Applecross to Shieldaig is amazing). A little rain on the last leg in to Ullapool but the bonus was this cracking rainbow shot
Today was round the top from Ullapool to Wick Beautiful sunshine for the most part, but warm and dry all the way. Ullapool bay looked glorious first thing Loads of amazing scenery and brilliant roads, I’ll not bore you with all the photos I took, but some of the best for sure
Nice one mate. Weather is looking good all week too. Hopefully it will still be the same when I leave for a 2 day tour round the Isle of Skye
Fantastic scenery. You certainly got the best weather for it. That’ll make for some great memories. All the best for the rest of your journey.
Todays route. I had to take a diversion over to Stonehaven, then down the A90 to Montrose and in to Arbroath as the B974 was closed from about 5 miles north of Fettercairn. Started a bit overcast but that burned off quickly and it’s been another gorgeous day.
Todays route from Arbroath to Moffat Overcast when I left and stayed so till about 11:00 (as I jumped on the M90 South at Kinross). This isn’t how to keep a secret. On the A92 just south of the Tay bridge. Dropped a clanger, in that I took the wrong bridge over the Firth of Forth, but it’s lovely and quiet. Was worried there were cameras (bikes are supposed to be 125 or less) but a bridge security fella said no cameras so no worries - just don’t do it again. In his opinion he’d rather see all bike traffic go this way - far safer for everyone. No introduction required - an icon of engineering.
No - I heard a while back that they’d come up with something that means it doesn't need constantly painting anymore Yes - I saw the beef tubs (made me smile thinking back to when you explained about them to me)
Some man. Glad you enjoyed it mate. I leave for a tour of Skye a week tomorrow. Praying the weather keeps up
Boo can't believe it's over. Really enjoyed your reports, thanks for sharing. One question is 7 days long enough to take it in?
So, leaving Moffat it was an overcast grey day with hazy sunshine. Similar to previous, again warm and dry, but the cloud cover persisted until I got home mid afternoon. Looking South East across Castle Loch on the B2020 at Lochmaben. Self explanatory Looking towards Skiddaw and Blencathra summits from a local road in the lakes between Caldbeck and Uldale
Derwent Water at Keswick Looking toward Great Dodd and Helvellyn on the A591 just south of Keswick. Scafell Pike from the A591 just north of Grasmere.
