I agree the oil usage is totally unacceptable - but what choice do you have if Honda wont do anything and the Blade is the bike you want?
daihatsu charade gti 99bhp 3 cylinders and that was years ago. there is something that can be done about the oil burning issue .but not in this country yet. there is a class action against honda in the usa . this is where lots of people make a case against honda or whoever and it gets put through the judicial system. it can work . i recieved some money back from virgin atlantic as they (and british airways ) had been overcharging fuel supliments on flights . i have also had a complete boot floor put in my m3 due to cracks around the suspension mounts.(about a £4000 job done as a goodwill gesture from bmw) both were done after a class action was won in the usa and word got around on forums like this .
so are most small cars these days ,these cars can have both turbos and superchargers on the same engine ,forcing pressure into the engine ,yet you dont hear about them using tons of oil. there is a good reply from someone in california (which has the tightest emission laws in the usa) asking how the bike can be said to pass emission standards ,when it is burning so much oil.
I don't care about burning oil . Matt asked what a 1000cc car engine would make comparing it to the blade . You said 100BHP . I don't think its a fair comparison to use a turbo charged engine as our bikes are not Turbo charged
AS Dan said I was thinking more like for like. IE why I said 999cc bike engine Vs car with 999cc not Supercharger or Turbo.. if you did this you would be looking at a 999cc bike engine with over 200BHP
As said i my last post it aint just they're bikes that Honda are complacent with New shape Civic & CRV were in and out in there droves with problems! It isn't execptable! Honda has rested on they're laurals they have an exceptional history of reliablity, quality, inovation but they have got a bit to big for there boots! They don't give a shit why should they the Blade is one of the best selling bikes so it isn't effecting sales same with the cars, when you tell people about your problems "What a Honda no way it must just be a bad car you have" If it aint a safety issue ,handbreak, windscreen recalls then they aint interested! But sayin that the Blades oil burning is a small price to pay for everythin else it has to offer but it's still not exceptable
just went and checked my oil 1000 miles 400mls can put up with that 2011 blade, i had a ktm superduke R 1 litre every 1000 miles and as ktm say its normal, brand new 07 R1 i had didnt use a drop from service to service.
