Yeah the shock looks pretty shitty for being a year old. As the guy abouve said it might have been an ex demo bike

Looking more closely at the pictures in the dealer the heel plates look pretty scuffed to for a year old bike, on my 09 are in almost as new condition.
Something is very odd what have you used (if anything) to remove the rust/staining ?

I haven't used anything yet mate. Im taking it back to the dealer when they open again to see what they say about it. More than likely they wont do anything about it, then i will try something or maybe even trade it in for a split new one ?

Definitely been ridden in winter and not cleaned properly afterwards. Previous owners not been completely honest with you unfortunately, but then again you didn't buy it from him directly. Its pretty bad for a year old bike , it really shouldn't look as bad as that!! Apart from that the bike looks great so I can see why you're pissed off about it!

My 14 year old R1 is in better nik than that.o_O

Wow thats a clean bike that! Something deffinetly doesn't add up with this blade, think i will trade it in if the warranty wont help out. At the price i paid it should be immaculate

I should think it fell off the boat on the way over and they fished it out again
It’s got no mileage really or age even if it had been used in bad weather I would not expect that
Take it back to a main Honda dealer and say you want it fixed

Oh no horrible to see, typical of either a bike going through a winter unprotected or more likely over zealous use of chemicals on hot surfaces and pressure washers
