I’m sure this has been asked once or twice but I can’t find anything specific on my issue. I’ve tried everything I can but keep hitting road blocks. I was needing to pin the throttle to even get the bike to barely idle so I did some research and found that it was likely the tps sensor. I tested it and it was reading 5v out both the input and output constantly regardless it throttle position. I replaced the sensor and it starting reading “correctly”. At idle it was reading at 5v and at WOT it read at .07v. As far as I know that seemed backwards so I repinned the connector and switched the gnd and output pins now it reads 4.1v at idle and 5v at WOT. I’ve tried adjusting the sensor and it doesn’t change much. It’s an OEM part and the connections seem fine. Any information would help
If it’s an OEM part why did you change the pin config? I know nothing of the issue but that sounds the wrong approach. Oh and hi - welcome to the forum
Yellow should always read 5V. Red should be 0.5V closed and smoothly increase to 4.5V wot. Green is ground. Did you have any codes or have you cycled the key with the TPS disconnected. Which cable did you switch with the green ?
Thank you! I swapped it cause it was reading backwards and figured I’d try I can always swap it back in a few mins
I swapped gnd and red. I did some research on how potentiometers work and thought it was roughly the best idea. I don’t have any way to read the codes I don’t know how at least. And we had the key on and off a few times with it disconnected but I wouldn’t imagine that would change the voltage ranges coming straight from the sensor.
Green and yellow are the correct colours to swap. ECU reset (remove neg terminal and 10amp fuse\ wait and reinstall).
They work on what is called a voltage divider system they have a resistive strip with yellow 5v one end and green 0v at the other and red goes up and down the strip on the pot to get a reading roughly between 0v and 5v, if possible try unplugging the the red wire at the tps and see what the voltage is, something might be pulling the voltage down
