Evening all, encountered a strange issue tonight with me 2016 cbr1000rr, I was out late and when I started the bike I had no head lights. Indicators where solid and only had the side light on the head lights, the full/main beam indicator was illuminated but the switch was in the low beam position, If you put the switch to high beam or pressed the pass switch the bike would cut out and not restart untill I was in N and the switches where back to the low beam position, is this a common issue with these and if so where do I start looking ?
Have a look at the LH switch cube and the 10pin connector. The Clutch switch runs through that connector too. Is your clutch lever bent?
Hi is that the one under the tank cover ? The Light blue one? If so I've taken that off and cleaned it but still the same? And no levers absolutely fine
Must be a funny picture then because it looks like your clutch lever is bent. Yes I think it's a blue connector, do you need a wiring diagram?
If you put the switch to low beam, have the bike in gear, clutch pulled in and side stand up will the bike start?
Hi no clutch lever isn't bent, must be the photo, and no so with the bike in gear stand up and clutch in it won't start I've got a Haynes manual, but if you have a working diagram that would be really helpful
Then I'd say the issue lies on the clutch switch/side stand switch circuit maybe. Have you checked all the wiring around that switch cube and the clutch switch etc? Wiring diagram.... https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SQEqeNdKoM1-2VB_q7fYRyCYCW_2fNnI/view?usp=drivesdk
So I've got the tank up checked the clutch switch that was absolutely fine, checked the side stand switch that was okay, cleaned all the pins in the blue connector for the left hand switch under the tank and that all sees okay I've taken the side fairing off and there a large back connector underneath the left hand side fairing by the intake drain port that is quite dirty and I've fumbled around with the wires and it seems there's an issue down there as when I moved the loom the bike sprung back into life for just a second so will delve deeper into it
Think I've found the issue, Big black electrical connector was heavily corroded inside so stripped all the pins and plugs out and cleaned them up put it back together and all seems to be working okay now , just taken it out for a ride and so far so good
Had the same problem and although I managed to get the bike running again, same problem cropped up again and again. I have just bought the front half of the loom. I ride all weather so thought water had been getting in and caused some damage to the plugs. But even after cleaning I had the problem. Then I noticed when fiddling with one of the wires the power would come back. No obvious signs of breaks of corrosion. So gave up and got the loom. Hope yours is all sorted and stays that way.
Ah shite , hopefully it's not that although the wires going over the top of the radiator didn't look fantastic to be honest, just had a quick look and can't seem to find any break downs of a loom for just that one bit, so might be a strip it down if it breaks again and see what's going on and hopefully splice the wires if needed
