Not so much to the bike but for the bike. Last couple of weeks been transforming the garage. Cleaned all the cobwebs and tidied everything up, put up some storage shelves, put down some second hand office floor tiles, ditched the old fluorescents and replaced with LED tubes, installed a Pragmasis wall anchor and finally built an Abba Sky lift for working on it and Winter storage.
Plugged my third puncture in three weeks. Starting to feel like I'm being persecuted. That's as many punctures in one tyre as I've had before in 35 years of road riding. On the plus side - I've got about a thousand miles of motorway commuting lined up over the next few weeks. Normally I'd hate squaring the rear off that much but this time I can shrug it off then slap on a fresh one while the front still has enough meat in it for them to wear out together.
Oh wow that is unlucky! I remember getting a puncture, tyre was about half worn but wasn’t repairable. So got a new one…. On the way home from Honda garage.. I got a puncture in the brand new tyre, 10 miles to its name! Was repairable tho luckily
Oh, that's a nasty one. I actually called around last week and would have replaced it had anyone had one in stock. Glad no-one did. Then changed my mind and decided to pick up a changer and do it myself. Now I have a compressor it seems like the next logical purchase. ...and means I can use proper plugs in the future rather than twiglets.
Picked up a pressure gauge last year that accuracy-wise is spot-on but I never really got on with the angled valve connector. Was footery to get behind the front disks and dumped air if you didn't have it just so... ...so, a bit of rainy day tweaking. Filed away some of the bezel making it easier to read. Marked in a couple of extra lines for the pressures I nearly always use and fitted an M10x1.0 Female to 1/4 BSP Male adaptor then a PCL right angle valve connector. Been using one of the PCL connectors on my airline and they're brilliant. Slip on and off no bother and never dump air. £16 on ebay from seller countrywidetyres which is a fair bit cheaper than buying from PCL - never will understand how that works!
I fitted a double bubble and some braided lines. I also managed to knock over the bottle of brake fluid so had a clean up to do once the bike was safely tucked up in the garage again. Doh
They do that Hiflo filter with a nut on by the way. Same code just has RC on the end. 5 for £33 on ebay.
Fitted the Indimate Bluetooth indicator sounder so my helmet phones go beep-beep when I have a turn signal on. Hopefully I will look like an idiot for leaving the indicators on less often.
When I change my oil I drain the old stuff, remove the filter and wait for the oil drips to stop. Then I lean the bike over (as far as my strength and nerve allow) on one side then the other for about 5 seconds each side and repeat a few times. It’s amazing how much more old oil comes out.
