Possibly in the market for a replacement Blade have seen a 2021 CBR1000 rr-r 2021 with less than 700 miles on the clock appreciate really low mileage but have to wonder with such low mileage its obviously been laid up for most of its life could that have caused any long term issues?
It wouldn't bother me being laid up, obviously I would check fluids n tyres. Last bike I bought had only 240 miles in 3 year according to mot doc's
Unless it’s been left out in all weathers and direct sunlight I wouldn’t be too concerned. Is there a service record and does that show an even ish distribution of miles? Covid laid bikes up though a 21 should be less affected by that - some just get bought and hardly ever go out (I should know )
The chain and the brake pistons are usually the first things to start sezing if a bike's lying for any length of time. Overdosing on chain cleaner will generally free the former and a clean-up the latter so neither is a big issue. Sounds like it has the makings of a great deal. A new bike for second-hand prices.
A 21 plate with 700 miles, I wouldn't be concerned about anything with this bike. If its local then its definitely worth a look to make sure all looks OK but by the sounds of it it'll probably look like a new bike!! Go for it!!
My Blade had 300 miles, at 3 years old. The bike ran flawlessly, the only thing I did was check fluids and put new tyres on. The previous owner rode it once.. and enjoyed looking at it in his garage. To him it was a nice piece to own.
Sounds like they open it up on the way home from the first service. Then left it in the garage until the finance was over.
My 2020 RR-R SP had less than 500 miles on it when I bought it 2 years ago. The dealer did the first service, and it has been fine. If you go for it, you'll find the gearing is rather long. I changed from 16/40 to 15/42 and it was much better, especially after the remap. I found the stock screen was too low too, it obscured the top of the dash, so I switched it for an MRA, which is much better.
Wouldn't bother me one bit. Five years ago I bought an 08 R1 with 825 miles on it (11 year old bike at the time). The gas tank was a mess. Replaced that and inspected, checked and lubed everything I could get my hands on and it ran like a dream. Turned out the bike was a high school graduation present from grandma for a kid who had no motorcycle experience. After two low speed tip overs the first month grandma took the keys until the kid took some riding classes. He never did and it sat in her garage for more than 10 years. I know this only because I had to hunt down grandma because the title was signed over incorrectly.
