Hi, New member here. I have a 2008 CBR1000RR. It doesn't seem to have an immobiliser as standard so I'm looking to get a little extra security on it. What ae the go to systems that you have fitted? Pin
It will have a Honda hiss system which is an immobiliser, chip in the key to ecu, the only thing worth having is a big lock or a tracker
Is it possible for some models to not have the Hiss system?. The reason I ask is that I had a spare key cut and obviously this hasn't been programmed to the bike. But I can start the bike with this spare unprogrammed key.
This is not a US bike so I can only assume it has been removed. Maybe the previous owner had an issue with it.
Big chains and decent locks, one on each wheel or through swingarm if you can. Coupled with a ground anchor and solid disc lock!!! I wouldn't bother with any additional alarms or immobilisers, they rarely get you an insurance discount and drain the shit out of your battery!!! Oh and park your car right up against the garage door!!
PIR flood lights, cheap and will put off anyone coming onto your property and not just people stealing your bike , I also have them in the garage, I also have the usual ground anchor, and alarm systems bike and house
I bought a Fosmon alarm. $14.99 from Walmart (I'm in the US). It's self contained, doesn't need to be wired into bike at all. Different levels of sound and sensitivity. Easy to arm/disarm. It's not terribly big. I made a lexan bracket to mount it under the passenger seat, 2022. I think it was worth at least 5x the price.
Was your original key present when you tried your new key ? There is an antenna below your ignition that should verify the presence of the correct chip. I’m either riding my bike or it’s in the garage, well out of sight. Multiple locks as layers, camera on garage which is alarmed to the house. Do the very best you can, that way you don’t feel guilty if the worst happens.
